TUPELO – A Tupelo businessman plans to open a bar and grill in downtown Tupelo in the next two weeks.
Rodney Shumpert operates Plush Club and Rooster Cats Bar & Grill on McCullough Boulevard, the former Club Icon, in Tupelo.
His third business, called Atlanta Bar & Grill, is going in the former space of the De Lighthouse, a Christian restaurant and club that closed about two years ago.
Atlanta Bar & Grill is at Main and Spring streets, near Main Street Vintage Guitars.
Shumpert said Atlanta Bar & Grill will serve lunch and dinner and will feature live music and stand-up comedy. But, he said, it won’t be a dance club.
The menu will feature classic American food, he said, such as burgers, steaks and chicken and waffles.
Musical genres will include rock, country, R&B, jazz and blues.
