VERONA – Lee County will hold a “Flood Risk Open House” from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Mississippi State University Extension Center to show the public its preliminary Flood Insurance Study and Map.
The information eventually will determine minimum flood risk to the community and could directly impact property owners. Those in high hazard areas will require flood insurance if they have a federally backed loan.
Officials from the Mississippi Flood Map Modernization Initiative Team will host the meeting.
Lee County property owners can contact Floodplain Administrator Shawn Hairald at (662) 841-0378 for information.
