New Guntown Alderman Herring gets sworn in

GUNTOWN – Jeff Herring took his oath of office at Guntown’s Monday evening board of aldermen meeting, after winning the July 26 runoff election for a vacated seat.
Herring, who is a project manager for Tull Brothers in Tupelo, said he is planning to run again after the two years are up on the term he is inheriting from Ronnie Lindsey.
He defeated Chad McMahan in the runoff election 169 to 151.
Mayor Robert Herring, a distant cousin of Jeff Herring, said he hated to see Lindsey go, but that Guntown had elected a good person to do the job.
“We’re just looking forward to moving on with the business of the town,” Robert Herring said.
Guntown has five aldermen.
