New high school may get visual arts building in Oxford

OXFORD — A feasibility study will determine whether the Oxford School District can raise enough private money to build a Fine Arts facility at the new high school.

The Oxford Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/16jQCcF ) that the school board will pay for the study. Once the capital campaign begins, funds must be privately raised.

The proposed facility would provide space for drama, visual arts, chorus, marching band and orchestra, culinary arts and a 650-seat auditorium.

Officials say they don’t want to move forward with a capital campaign project without some good data that it has some success.

Upon suggestion from board attorney Mary Ann Connell, the school board decided to seek bids on what is expected to be a $15,000 study.
