TUPELO – Matt Laubhan will join WTVA as chief meteorologist in April, the television station announced Tuesday.
He’ll replace Dick Rice, who will assume emeritus status and will continue to make school visits and represent the station at community events.
Rice, who has been with the station since 1979, also will continue to fill in for vacationing staff members.
Laubhan is now the chief meteorologist at KLBK-TV in Lubbock, Texas. He moved to Lubbock in 2004 as the morning meteorologist for KAMC and became chief meteorologist at KLBK in 2007.
He began his broadcast career while attending the University of Kansas.
