OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Builders of the new Oxford High School say they expect to have all the classrooms and the cafeteria completed by Dec. 7. However, the new gym may not be ready until Jan. 14.
The Oxford Eagle reports that Yates Construction has 101 days remaining to complete everything.
The high school is costing about $30 million. Another $760,000 is for new furniture.
A decision is pending on how to pay for a new performing arts building at the new high school.
Supporters have suggested a private- public partnership and corporate sponsors to raise money.
If constructed, the building would provide space for the drama department, visual arts, chorus, the marching band and orchestra, culinary arts and a 650-seat auditorium. It would cost about $10 million.
