New Site team finishes third in nation

THE PLAINS, Va. – The New Site Rocketry Team returns from the Team America Rocketry Challenge with a third place trophy among 100 teams in the nation.
The team of nine students in physics teacher Ester Potts’ class made the top 20 teams in the first round when their rocket flew 733 feet in 46.6 seconds. Contest rules require that the rocket carry one raw egg, lying horizontally in the rocket, to a height of 750 feet, with the flight lasting exactly 45 seconds.
The group required two more rounds of flights before being declared third place winners.
