OXFORD – Felicia Adams, North Mississippi’s new U.S. attorney, is on the job.
She reportedly was sworn in late last week during a private ceremony in Oxford.
However, she is not yet granting media interviews.
Adams, 51, is a Holly Springs native and a career government attorney. Most recently, she was the top assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District in Jackson.
Last spring, she was appointed by President Barack Obama last and recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
She’s the first woman to hold that post in Mississippi.
The Northern District, based in Oxford, has been without a presidential-appointed U.S. attorney since James Greenlee’s retirement in January 2010.
