Derailment blocks rail access for paper facility

• VICKSBURG — A weekend train derailment near Vicksburg has left International Paper Co. temporarily without rail access to move inventory in and out of its local plant.
The Vicksburg Post reports a train pulling 30 freight cars carrying huge rolls of paper left the tracks and caught fire Sunday afternoon near U.S. Highway 61 North and Mississippi Highway 3.
IP spokeswoman Amy Sawyer said company officials are gathering information about the incident. She said 18-wheelers can be used to transport products.
Early morning plane crash kills Waveland man

• WAVELAND – Sheriff’s officials have confirmed that a Waveland man was killed in a plane crash discovered early Monday morning in Hancock County.
Frank Letellier, 44, was killed in the crash about six miles west of Stennis International Airport. He was the pilot and only one aboard a four-seat Diamond DA40, which was destroyed.
The website Flight Aware, which tracks private and commercial flights, says the aircraft was registered to Waveland Equipment Leasing. Flight Aware said the plane was scheduled to fly Sunday night from Florida’s Destin-Fort Walton Beach airport to Stennis International Airport.
