TUPELO – North Mississippi Medical Center has chosen one of its own to lead its wellness centers.
Philip Raper, who has worked at the NMMC Wellness Center since 1995, recently was named director, overseeing the Tupelo, Baldwyn and Pontotoc locations. Raper, who previously served as the member services and therapeutic day spa supervisor, succeeds Hank Boerner, who died suddenly in December.
“I feel very blessed and honored to be the new director,” Raper said. “Wellness is a passion that drives me daily. I look forward to serving the Wellness Center and promoting a healthy lifestyle to the community.”
Raper received his bachelor’s degree in fitness management from Mississippi State University. He graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a master’s degree in health administration.
Raper has served as lead examiner for the Medical Fitness Association facility certification program, and has examined 17 facilities internationally and five nationally.
He is an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer and is certified in Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED through the American Heart Association.
He is married to Stacey Raper and has four children, Madi Raper, Ryan Perich, Dylan McCalla and Maddie McCalla.
