No arson ruling in Dry Creek fire in Tippah County

DRY CREEK – A Thursday morning house fire in the Dry Creek community has not been ruled arson, the Tippah County fire investigator said on Friday.
Rumors have circulated in the community that arson was suspected, said Chief Deputy Roy Shappley, who also is the county fire investigator. Shappley said he didn’t receive a call to go to the scene of the fire to conduct an investigation. When he got a call late Thursday asking about the incident, Shappley said he had no information about the incident.
A house fire at a residence on Tippah County Road 600 was reported about 5 a.m. Thursday, according to news reports, and no one was injured in the fire that caused severe damage.
