PONTOTOC – A Public Service Commission rule has redirected the city’s studies of an idea that could potentially have saved $15,000 a year.
Leaders had looked into the option of not sending out a second bill for water, gas and garbage services.
“In a time of tight budget restraints, this would certainly help the city coffers,” Mayor Jeff Stafford said. “However … when we checked with the PSC office, we saw that the public must have that second notice before we cut the services.”
Commissioner Brandon Presley said he is open to work with the city in any way possible to help them save money and also obey the rule.
