No snow accumulation expected with today's cold

The official forecast of snow mixed with rain late tonight and early Sunday should not raise hopes of white landscapes, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Memphis said late Friday afternoon.

The spokeswoman said there's a 90 percent probability that northern Mississippi will not have snow accumulation as temperatures drop with the advance of a cold front.

The region can expect heavy rains today and tonight, she said.

Much lower temperatures are expected Sunday, with lows in the 20s.
