Annual budget: $27,500.
United Way contribution: $18,000.
President: Tracey Hall.
Purpose of agency:
“The North Mississippi Kidney Foundation, Inc. exists for the sole purpose of assisting renal patients of North Mississippi Dialysis Services with their medical and transportation expenses, as well as other emergency expenses.
“The primary strengths of the organization are its extremely low overhead and 100 percent volunteer staffing, which enable North Mississippi Kidney Foundation to disburse at least 99 percent of its annual budget directly toward patient needs.
“Because of their dialysis schedules and underlying illnesses, most renal patients are unable to work. This loss of income is further exacerbated by the prohibitive medical expenses associated with renal diseases. Although most patients qualify for Medicaid/Medicare, these resources are very limited.
“Assisting renal patients with their emergency financial needs, thereby relieving them of the associated stress, enables them to better handle their difficult circumstances.”
