North Pontotoc High baseball coach Chad Anthony is going to stick with his bleach-blonde hairdo.
After all, his Vikings squad has had nothing but good fortune since he dyed his hair as part of a deal he made with his players for winning the MHSAA Division 1-4A title.
Anthony’s crew will leave Ecru at 8:30 this morning to head to Jackson for Game 1 of the MHSAA Class 4A state championship series against Columbia High at Smith-Wills Stadium. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
“Some of it has started to grow out, but it’s still there,” Anthony said of his bleached hair. “I’m not going to cut it just yet.
“I’m going to stick with it.”
Coming off a one-hitter he twirled against Amory in last Thursday’s Game 1 of a semifinals series, Kyle Robbins (10-1) will be throwing the first pitch for the Vikings in their first-ever trip to the Jackson area for the state championship series.
Game 2 is set for 1 p.m. Friday at Trustmark Park in Pearl.
