Northeast Itawamba Water Association board members resign after heated public forum

Three members of the Northeast Itawamba Water Association board of directors have resigned following a fiery public forum held last week.

Brian Cunningham, Eunice Mayhall and Lemois Oswalt tendered their resignations during Monday night’s regular meeting of the regional water association board via single-sentence letters, according to Northeast Itawamba Water Association customer Trelvy Petty, who was present at the meeting.

The resignations were confirmed by employees of the Northeast Itawamba Water Association Monday morning.

Four board members are still in place and will continue to oversee the water association’s regular operations until an election can be held to replace the resigned members.

These resignations come nipping at the heels of a heated public debate hosted last week by Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley. The meeting was held in response to a recent influx of complaints against the regional water system.
