Now is the time to purchase your dream home in Verona. That’s what potential homebuyers found out during the public meeting Tuesday at Verona City Hall.
The city has secured a Home Investment Partnership Program Grant that will provide a substantial down payment to qualified home buyers for houses in Verona. Funds have been increased from $25,000 to $28,750.
The terrific thing about this, it can go toward building a new home or purchasing an existing one for at least 10 residents. It is possible to “layer other benefits” such as Affordable Housing Grant funds and Economic Stimulus funds to receive up to an additional $15,000.
To qualify for the grant, a family must earn no more than the median family income. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, for a family of four in Mississippi, the median family income is $47,726. For a family of three, it’s 37,841. Funds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call Verona City Hall at 566-2211 for more information.
