Nunnelee leaves state Senate

TUPELO – Congressman-elect Alan Nunnelee resigned from the state Senate today after 15 years in office.

The Republican stepped down to prepare for his new job as a U.S. representative for Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District, a post he won in the Nov. 2 general election.

Nunnelee will replace current U.S. Rep. Travis Childers, D-Miss., who has served since 2008.
