Nursing Home news from Floy Dyer Manor

HOUSTON – On Friday, April 3, church services were conducted by Bro. Ralph Pullen from parkway Baptist Church. We always enjoy him. He always does a great job. We had 20 present with two visitors.
We had our resident council meeting in the afternoon. We had 14 present.
On Saturday, April 4, we had our crochet class this morning. We really enjoyed it. We invite everyone to come and join us on Saturday mornings.
On Sunday, April 5, church services were conducted by Bro. Gary McQuary from Bethel Baptist Church. Pastor is Bro. Rikey McKay, song leader is Todd Kilgore and Lana Pepper played the piano. We had 17 present.
ON Monday, April 6, we had bingo in the afternoon. We always have a good time. They always have good refreshments. The helpers were Judy Hill, Jo Ellen Free, Ruth Gann, Nelda Moore and Glenda Scarbrough. Winners were Catherine Reeves, Myra Hancock, Mrs. Gibson, Ruble Parker, Mary Evans and Glenda Nichols.
The Houston Vocational Center Allied Health class came and painted our fingernails in the morning. They played bingo in the afternoon. They put up Easter art by Houston Middle School’s sixth grade Art class. The art students made sun catchers and painted Easter eggs. We really enjoyed them.
On Tuesday, April 7, we had a reading class with Kay Faulkner. We always enjoy her Bible stories. We had 21 present with one visitor.
On Wednesday, April 8, church services were conducted by Bro. Steve Lampkin form Buena Vista Methodist Church. Piano player was Katie Booth, Mrs. Garner’s granddaughter. We really enjoyed them. We really enjoyed all the refreshments. They are always good. We had 20 present with two visitors.
GA Girls from First Baptist Church, Houston, came on Wednesday night. The girls shared songs about Jesus with the residents and put up crosses they had made on each door. There were approximately 15 girls and six adults present. The girls sang “Jesus Loves Me,” and “East to West.” The girls ranged in age from first grade to sixth grade.
On Thursday, April 9, we had a big day. The Allied Health class from the Votech spent the day with us helping us color eggs and stuffing plastic eggs. We always enjoy them. We had a good time. They helped us play games for prizes. Everybody got a prize. In the afternoon, they hid the Easter eggs and helped us find them. We want to thank Wal-mart for the Easter baskets they gave us. Glenda Nichols found the prize egg and received a nice Easter basket filled with a lot of nice prizes. Lucille Bray found the most eggs. Catherine Reeves and Lucille Bray tied for finding the eggs with the most money in them. Ruble Parker guessed the number of jellybeans in the jar. Grace Moore won prizes for knowing the answers to why do we celebrate Easter and about the story of the Dogwood tree. Thank you, Hope, for making this Easter fun for the residents.
