Nursing Home News from Floy Dyer Manor

HOUSTON – On Thursday, April 9, church services were conducted by Bro. Johnny Cherry from Faith Bible Church. Piano player was Lavada Winter. Song leader was Ramona Farr. Bro. Lynn Dunn was the speaker. They played and sang beautiful music. We had 14 present with 16 visitors.
On Friday, April 10, church services were conducted by Bro. Larry Wright and his wife Elaine from Parkway Baptist Church. We had 13 present with 2 visitors.
We want to thank everyone for all the Easter gifts they brought us. They were all appreciated.
Hope Tucker had a birthday this week. The resident and the WMU from Parkway honored her with a birthday party. Elizabeth Pettit made the cake and Grace Moore, Nell Baswell, Nancy and Robert Dendy, Frances Pumphrey, Mrs. Gann, and Darlene Pettit served it. We hope that Hope has many more birthdays. We all love her and thank her for all she does for us.
We played bingo, also. Winners were Johnnie Duncan, Ara Garner, Laura Box, Ruble Parker, Guinette Vancleave, Inez Dotson, Catherine Reeves, and Lorene Lucius.
On Saturday, April 11, we had our crochet class this morning. We really enjoyed it.
On Sunday, April 12, Easter church services were conducted by Bro. Ricky McKay from Bethel Baptist Church.
We had a singing with Faith Bible Church in the afternoon. Pastor was Bro. Johnny Cherry. Piano player was Ramona Farr. Song leader was Bro. Jack Falls. Speaker was Bro. Allen Atkinson. We had 12 present. We really enjoyed them.
On Monday, April 13, we played bingo and really had a good time. The refreshments were real good. We were glad to see Miss Thelma Allen back with us. Helpers were Thelma Allen, Ruth Gann, Nelda Moore, Glenda Scarbrough, and Kay Griffen. Winners were Ruby Hodnett, Ruble Parker, Birdie Blanton, Mary Evans, and Mattie Pullen. We had 30 present.
On Tuesday, April 14, church services were conducted by Bro. Ricky McKay from Bethel Baptist Church. Rachel McKay sang some special songs. We really enjoyed it. We had 16 present.
On Wednesday, April 15, Grace Moore attended Mrs. Ruby Simmons’ funeral at Calvert Funeral Home in West Point.
On Thursday, April 16, the Golden Girls came and we played bingo. Helpers were Marceline Porter, Janice James, Peggy Falls, Nell Braswell, and Francis Pumphrey. Winners were Inez Dotson, Ara Garner, L.C. Duncan, Mary Evans, Ruth Lancaster, Lucile Bray, Birdie Blanton, Guinette Vancleave, Inez Castle, Ruby Hodnett, Christine Eaton, and Amanda Crockett.
We had crafts in the afternoon. We really enjoyed them.
