Cindy Tutor
ECRU – Cynthia “Cindy” McCalop Bailey Tutor, 46, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at the Pontotoc Medical Center in Pontotoc. She was born Dec. 6, 1963, in Grenada to Kelly and Patsy McCalop. She was a member of Holcomb Baptist Church. She was employed as an LPN until her retirement.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada. Bro. John Goldwater will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ecru City Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Orville “Buck” Tutor of Ecru; her mother, Patsy McCalop of Holcomb; her son, John Bailey (Michelle); one brother, Kirby McCalop (Tonya); two stepsisters, Trinity and Tracy Tutor; seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kelly McCalop; a brother, Greg McCalop; and a daughter, Candice Bailey.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

WEST POINT – B.T. “Ben” Brashier Jr., 88, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, in Roy, Utah. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Calvert Funeral Home of West Point.
Mildred Criddle
VAN VLEET – Mildred Marie Criddle, 75, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, which was her and her husband’s wedding anniversary. She was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Shannon to Jim and Nanny Lou Phillips. She was a Baptist.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Arbor Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Arbor Grove Cemetery. Southern Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include four daughters, Sara Rutherford (Jimmy) of Shannon, Pat Word (William) of Houston, Linda Summers (Jerry) of Fulton and Sandy Shoemaker (Kent) of Van Vleet; nine grandchildren, Jim, Lee, Leslie, Chad, Tara, Adrian, Lindsey, Samantha and Kathryn; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Wayne Phillips (Dot) and Kenneth Ray Phillips (Angie) of Tupelo; and two sisters, Ruth Funderburk of Eggville and Shirley Parker of New Albany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee Criddle; her parents, Jim and Nanny Lou Phillips; one grandchild, Michael Summers; one great-grandchild, Maddie Rutherford; five brothers, Leon, Chuck, Len, Jimmy and David Phillips; and one sister, Anne McMurry Moreland.
Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Jimmy Rutherford, William Word, Jerry Summers and Kent Shoemaker; and her grandsons, Jim Rutherford, Lee Rutherford, Chad Galloway and Adrian Shoemaker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Doss and Richard Owens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m today at the funeral home.

Josephine Bennett
HICKORY FLAT – Josephine Alford Bennett, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. She was born May 16, 1928, in Thorn to Lynn and Cora Woolridge Alford. Before her retirement, she taught elementary school for 30 years in Benton, Calhoun, Marshall and Union Counties. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hickory Flat for more than 50 years and was active in the Ruth Sunday School Class and The Young at Heart.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Hickory Flat with Dr. Ron Mitchell and Billy G. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in McKay Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Fowler (Jerry) of Blue Mountain and Neila Segars (Chuck) of Batesville; one son, Mitch Bennett (Kathy) of Hickory Flat; and five grandchildren, Curt Fowler (Fancy) of Ripley, Brett Fowler (Joanna) of Blue Mountain, Jeremy Bennett of Hickory Flat, Chelsea Jones (Matt) of Hickory Flat and Aleia Segars of Batesville; and three great-grandchildren, Case Fowler of Ripley, Brian Fowler of Blue Mountain and Lane Jones of Hickory Flat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, J.D. Bennett; a son, Jerry Don Bennett; and two brothers, Travis Alford and Merrill Alford.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Alford, Johnson Gresham, Curt Fowler, Brett Fowler, Jeremy Bennett and Matt Jones.

John Reynolds
PONTOTOC – John C. Reynolds, 92, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at the Pontotoc Nursing Home. He was a retired businessman and a member of Reynolds Chapel Church. He lived a long, good life.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Bro. Greg Herndon officiating. Burial will be in Guinn Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Reynolds and wife, Sherry, of Pontotoc, and Steve Reynolds and Philip Reynolds, both of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Scott Reynolds, Courtney Reynolds, Steven Reynolds and Jeffery Reynolds, all of Tupelo, and Melissa Reynolds of Pontotoc; one brother, Paul Wayne Reynolds of Pontotoc; three sisters, Jewel Ray and Hazel Smith, both of Pontotoc, and Mamie Gober of Nettleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leroy Reynolds and Travis Reynolds.
Pallbearers will be Scott Reynolds, Toby Reynolds, Jon Parker, Grant Reynolds, Ethan Reynolds and Keith Ray.

Ludie Mae Crump
HAMILTON – Ludie Mae Thompson Crump, 66, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Community Hospice in Verona. She was born Jan. 16, 1944, to James Basil Thompson and Connie Mae Enlow Thompson in Knoxville, Tenn. A lifelong resident of Hamilton, she graduated from Hamilton School and worked as an inspector in the furniture industry. She was a member of Athens Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Glen Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Evans Cemetery in Lamar County, Ala.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Wayne Crump of Hamilton; one daughter, Teresa Ann Houk and husband, Kenny, of Hamilton; one son, Bobby Wayne Crump and wife, Barbara, of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Justin Ray Houk and Terrie Ann Houk; and two great-grandchildren, Addyson Houk and Kaylin Bradley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Joyce Crump.

Lecter Mae Boswell
WEST POINT – Lecter Mae Jones Boswell, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at her residence. She was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Oktibbeha County to Willie Wiley Jones and Lillie Jane Ray. She was a seamstress for Artex for several years and a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at West Point Memorial Gardens with Rev. Payton Myers and Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating. Robinson Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by four daughters, Janis Boswell Johnsey of Melbourne, Ark., Sheila Brewer of Cedar Bluff, Gena Arney of Cedar Bluff and Martha Jane Smith of Suffolk, Va.; brother, Willie “Peck” Jones of Eupora; sisters, Lavis Coggins of Longview and Bobbie Jean Arney of Cedar Bluff; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Boswell; and a grandson, Jacob Zackary Henley.

CORINTH – Dorothy Johnson Boyd, 87, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Mississippi Care Center.

Mary Swoope
WEST POINT – Mary Drake Batton Swoope, 69, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Darlington Oakes in Verona. She was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Vicksburg to Alexander Alford Batton and Isabella Person Drake. She was a retired teacher from the Lowndes County School. She was a member of the Board of Directors of MEA, Aberdeen Jr. Auxiliary, West Point Pilot Club and the DAR in Port Gibson. She attended Southwestern College in Memphis and graduated the University of Southern Mississippi, and she received a master’s degree in gifted education from Mississippi University for Women.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, EPC, with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Robinson Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Edward A. Swoope; a son, James Prowell Swoope (Jennifer), all of West Point; a granddaughter, Mary Ray Swoop; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Alexander Alford Batton Jr.
Pallbearers will be Sandy Batton, Gib Reid, Trip Hairston, Keith McBrayer, Gray Swoope, Tim Wilson, Phillip Hankins and John Cunningham.

T.J. Rodgers Jr.
WEST POINT – Thomas Jefferson Rodgers Jr., 84, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Darlington Oakes in Verona. He was born in Mansfield, Ark., on Feb. 20, 1926, to Thomas J. Rodgers Sr. and Sudie Mae Neely. He was owner of T.J.’s Army-Navy Surplus Store for many years. He was retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve, having served in World War II.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Rev. R.C. Bryan officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Watson Rodgers of West Point, whom he married March 11, 1951; daughters, Kim Rodgers Harmon of West Point, Kay Rodgers Talbot of Byhalia and Tracy Rodgers McVaugh of Columbus; brother, Harry Rodgers of Kosciusko; six grandchildren, Lyle Harmon, Leigh Harmon Harpole, Marcus Wright, Allison Wright Cantello, Chris Rodgers and Emma Claire Rodgers; five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Halechko, Gregg Bennett, Harry Rodgers Jr., Jeff Rodgers, Robbie Robinson and Kent Watson.

Julie Coleman
TUPELO – Julie Lindsey Coleman , 51, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born Sept. 18, 1958, to Jackie Gibson Sr. and Faye Booker Gibson. She was a Baptist. She was a caregiver for the elderly until becoming disabled about a year ago. She was an avid cook and enjoyed decorating cakes. She especially loved her grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Donny Riley officiating. Burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery.
Survivors include her mother, Faye Booker Yarbrough (Bill) of Tupelo; one son, Matthew Coleman (Ginger) of Blue Springs; one daughter, Amy Lyle (Phillip) of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Anna Claire Lyle, Sloane Lyle, Alaina Coleman and Walker B. Holmes; one brother, Ben Gibson of Meridian; one aunt, Carrie Ann Harris (Donnie) of Belden; four uncles, Sid Booker of Fulton, Glen Gibson (Wilda) and Buddy Gibson (Sarah), both of Meridian, and Billy Gibson (Bobbie) of Louisiana.
She preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Gibson Jr.; her father, Jackie Gibson Sr.; and her grandparents, Flemon and Eudie Booker.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Harris, Mark Henderson, Butch Lyle, Henry Jenkins, Buck Yarbrough and Jason Morrow.

Dickie Sartin
PONTOTOC – Dickie Drew Sartin, 56, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at his home in Pontotoc. He loved his profession, which was truck driving. He was best known for his love of singing and making music.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc. Buster Tutor and Jimmy Roberts will deliver eulogies. Burial will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his mother, Wilma Walton Sartin of Pontotoc; two sons, Brad Sartin (Heather) of Tupelo and Ryan Sartin (Tina) of Pontotoc; one stepdaughter, Raven Morgan of Pontotoc; one brother, Arnold Sartin of Plantersville; two sisters, Shirley Sartin of Nashville and Mitzi Sartin of Pontotoc; six grandchildren, Hallie, Caley, Ana Claire, Crysalin, Joseph and Joshua; his extended family, Sharon and Rivers Hodge of Pontotoc.
He was preceded in death by his father, Shed O. Sartin; his wife, Sandra Lilly Sartin; and his grandparents, Drew and Artie Walton, and Floyd and Lona Sartin.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Delaney, Bill Walton, Matthew Foster, Rivers Hodge, Leroy Russell, Matt McCullum, Robert Feather and Scott Walls. Mike Pickens will be an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Ronnie Breedlove
BOONEVILLE – Ronnie Joe Breedlove, 56, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a member of the Candler’s Chapel Baptist Church and a construction worker.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Hall and Bro. Glen Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Candler’s Chapel Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Breedlove Hunt of Booneville; four daughters, Wendy (Freddy Jr.) Geno of Jumpertown, Jennifer Breedlove of Booneville, Casey (Marshall) Stevens of Marietta and Micki (Patrick) Murphy of Booneville; one sister, Saundra (Jimmy) Sims of Tupelo; one stepsister, Janice (James Harold) Moreland of Marietta; five grandchildren, Austin and Riley Geno, Clayton and Avery Grace Stevens, and Brayden Murphy; and the mother of his children, Elaine Breedlove.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Breedlove, and his stepfather, Macon Hunt.

Virgil Williams
HOUSTON – Virgil Adam Williams, 70, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at his residence in Houston. He was born May 27, 1940, in Egypt to Robert Robertson Williams and Mary Jane “Mamie” Johnson Williams. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was retired as a truck driver for Astro Lounger in Houlka. He was a member of Kellview Heights Babtist Church in Midland, Texas.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston. Bro. Glenn Washington and Bro. Joe Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Vardaman.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy June Taylor Wiliams of Houston; two sons, Robert E. Williams of Columbia and Richard Wayne Williams of Houston; four grandchildren, Robert E. Williams II of Osyka, Bradley K. Williams of Columbia, Jonathan Lewis Williams of Tupelo and Teresa June Murillo of Houston; and 11 great-grandchildren, Maranda, Dakota, Gabriella, Catherine, Olivia, Jaxson, Rosa, Mark, Dora, Luis and Cameron; one sister, Mary Barnett of Houlka; and two brothers, Vernon Williams and John Williams, both of Houlka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Adam Williams; and three sisters and two brothers.

Ruth R. Rumery
TUPELO – Ruth R. Rumery, 93, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Cedars Heathcare Center after a brief illness. A native Litchfield, Neb., she was born June 22, 1917, to Harve and Ora Brogden Lang. She graduated from Litchfield High School and then attended business school and nursing school. She worked as a bookkeeper for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company from 1951 to 1976, when she retired. After living 46 years in Davenport, Iowa, she and her husband moved to Tupelo. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework. She was a member of the Ladies Lions and Tri-T, and an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she served in many different capacities. She was the widow of Kenneth A. Rumery, who died in 1997.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Rooney, Rev. Brian Collier and Rev. Betty Flynn officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet R. Violette of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Kristine McGuire and fiancampé, Edward “Al” Furr, of Savannah, Ga. and Steven Violette and wife, Winter, of Tupelo; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Katie McGuire.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her son, Mark Alan Rumery; her sister, Enid Brundage; her brother, John E. Lang; and a son-in-law, Randall W. Violette.
The Wesleyan Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will greet friends following the service Wednesday.
