IONIA, Mich. – Paul Modzelewski, 43, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at his home in Ionia, Mich.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webster County.
Visitation will be from 8 until 11 a.m. Sunday.
Diane Janes
WALNUT – Diane Janes, 62, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Corinthian Funeral Home in Corinth. Burial will be in Oakland Baptist Cemetery in Walnut.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time today.
Daisy Rhodes
IUKA – Daisy Lee Rhodes, 99, formerly of Brandon, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Brandon Memorial Gardens. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to either the Brandon United Methodist Church Fund or the Iuka United Methodist Church Fund.

Curtis Gurley
BYHALIA – Curtis Eugene Gurley, 76, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at his home in Byhalia. He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Potts Camp. He was a Christian and a veteran. He was a took and die maker for Gurley Tool and Die.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holly Springs Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Byhalia Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Rebecca Mitchell Gurley of Byhalia; one daughter, Deborah Lemmon (Rocky) of Byhalia; four brothers, Walter Gurley of Hernando, Phil Gurley of Southaven, Marion Gurley of Horn Lake and Junior Gurley of Byhalia; five sisters, Louise Salter of Atlanta, Ga., Suzie Gilliland of Olive Branch, June Watson of Southaven, Patricia Cole of Southaven and Betty Tuttle of Como; grandchildren, Cameron Fennell of Byhalia, Brandon Fennell of Byhalia and Natalie Buyer of Bartlett, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Landen Fennell of Holly Springs and Mackenzie Fennell of Byhalia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Wilburn Gurley; his mother, Dorothy Shaw Gurley; and two daughters, Janie Buyer and Jacquilyn Gurley.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Fennell, Landen Fennell, Jerry King, Bronson Fennell, Rocky Lemmon and Billy Jones.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

RED BAY, Ala. – Madrue McMurray Thorn, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay, Ala.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.

CORINTH – Versie Phillips Gains, 80, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Parkway Church of Christ. Burial will be in Forrest Hill Cemetery. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mable Armstrong
VERONA – Mable Armstrong, 88, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born March 11, 1922, in Nettleton to Joseph and Alba Mae Cain. She was a longtime seamstress supervisor and a cook. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening and cooking. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Verona and a former Sunday School teacher. She loved her family and enjoyed the time she spent with them.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marc Howard and Bro. Gary Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Steven (Angela) Armstrong of Tupelo, Christy (Steve) Walter of Jacksonville, Ark., Matt (Amy) Armstrong of Shannon and Tracie (Joe) Cobb of Coldwater; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sophia Bailey of Shannon and Jo Mae Hamblin of Tupelo; two daughters-in-law, Betty Armstrong of Verona and Joann Armstrong of New Jersey; and a special niece Paula (Greg) Wood of Saltillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe C. Armstrong Sr.; one daughter, Sarah Louise Armstrong; two sons, Joe C. Armstrong Jr. and Paul Franklin Armstrong; and one brother Thomas Wiygul Cain.
Pallbearers will be Greg Wood, Gary Wood, Bobby Williams, Carl Bailey, David Homan, Shane Homan, David Hall, Glen Jeffcoat and Nat Stinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Armstrong, Sydney Armstrong, James Hall, Billy Bailey, Leon Armstrong, Luke Wood, John Gregory Wood, Maggie Wood and Emily Wood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
