TUPELO – Irene Kimbrough 82, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at her home. She retired from Air Cap Industries in 1993. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Verona.

She is survived by one son, Larry Kimbrough of Mantachie; one brother, J.C. Dees of Booneville; one grandchild, Matt Kimbrough of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Kimbrough, and a brother, Roy Dees.

CHUNCHULA, Ala. – Ruth Ella Dungan Eubanks Rush, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at the Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala. She was born May 18, 1922, in Lucedale to Robert Coley and Pearlie Mae Howell Dungan. She married Houston Eubanks in 1939; he died in 1991. She then married Rufus Rush in 1997; he died in 2008. She was a homemaker and also worked for Amory Garment Co. She was a member of the Azalea City Church of Christ. As a minister’s wife, she spent time with mission work in the Cayman Islands and in Belize. She enjoyed playing the piano and was known for her beautiful singing voice. Her hobbies included crocheting doilies, bedspreads and table cloths, doing word-search puzzles, chocolate and shopping on the QVC network. She enjoyed her large family, her church family and her many friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Amory Church of Christ with Ministers Marshall Eubanks Jr. and Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one daughter, Elaine Murff; one infant daughter; two grandchildren, Vicki Murff and Darrell Patterson; one stepson, Roger Rush; and three brothers; and five sisters.

RIPLEY – Madge Eaton Baggett, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born July 16, 1925, to Roland Bartlett Eaton and Myrtle Little Eaton. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and also attended North Ripley Baptist Church. She was a retired clerk for FAA Air Traffic Controller in Memphis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Church Cemetery.

DIXIE – Rita Irene Tate Spiers, 92, died Monday, Nov. 23, 20009, at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1917, to Carrie and Edward Tate in Carriere. She married Joseph Cazeneuve Spiers Jr. on May 27, 1937, in Gulfport. They were married 70 years before he died Aug. 4, 2007. She never formally worked outside the home, but her real pride was in the meals she prepared and in the pieces she lovingly crocheted for her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Dixie Baptist Church.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Dixie Baptist Church. Burial was in Dixie Baptist Church Cemetery. Moore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Spiers (Molly) of Carnes and Joe Spiers (Dorothy Jeannie) of Amory; three sisters, Joy Purcell of Avondale, La., Clara Lenoir of Picayune and Ouida Wilcox of Pass Christian; a son-in-law, Bobbie Earl Tucker; seven grandchildren, Polly Wallis (Randy), Penny Kincannon, Bobbie Tucker (Michelle), Ponda Lee (Bobby), Shane Tucker (Gloria), Eddy Spiers (Patty), and Jeanna Spiers; 12 great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

WEST POINT – Garvis Christine Robertson Gwathney, 87, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus. She was born June 27, 1922, in Winston County to Willie Richardson Robertson and Chester Robertson. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She married John Walter Gwathney on Dec. 24, 1940, in Elaine, Ark.; he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Jim Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.

CORINTH – Bobby Joe “Jay” Vanderford, 75, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1934, to David P. and Maude I. Maness Vanderford in Rienzi. At the age of 16 he moved to Zion, Ill., where he was employed at The Cookie Factory. In 1951 he moved to Kenosha, Wis., where he was employed at Nash-Rambler (now Chrysler), retiring after 31 years. Upon retiring, he returned to Rienzi. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising chickens, growing various fruit trees and training his dogs.
