Irene Kimbrough
TUPELO – Irene Kimbrough 82, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at her home. She retired from Air Cap Industries in 1993. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Verona.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Gardens.
She is survived by one son, Larry Kimbrough of Mantachie; one brother, J.C. Dees of Booneville; one grandchild, Matt Kimbrough of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Kimbrough, and a brother, Roy Dees.
Pallbearers will be Robby Kimbrough, Andy Kimbrough, Ronny Kimbrough, Richie Kimbrough, Joey Kimbrough, Chris Kimbrough, Steve Altom and Ted Ferguson.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home.
Gerome Wright
IUKA – Gerome Wright, 45, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at his home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka.
Ruth Rush
CHUNCHULA, Ala. – Ruth Ella Dungan Eubanks Rush, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at the Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala. She was born May 18, 1922, in Lucedale to Robert Coley and Pearlie Mae Howell Dungan. She married Houston Eubanks in 1939; he died in 1991. She then married Rufus Rush in 1997; he died in 2008. She was a homemaker and also worked for Amory Garment Co. She was a member of the Azalea City Church of Christ. As a minister’s wife, she spent time with mission work in the Cayman Islands and in Belize. She enjoyed playing the piano and was known for her beautiful singing voice. Her hobbies included crocheting doilies, bedspreads and table cloths, doing word-search puzzles, chocolate and shopping on the QVC network. She enjoyed her large family, her church family and her many friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Amory Church of Christ with Ministers Marshall Eubanks Jr. and Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Marshall Eubanks Sr. (Mary) of Amory; seven daughters, Joann Dabbs (Roy) of Amory, Judith Williams (Farrell) of Aberdeen, Eleanor Kemp (Ray) of Chunchula, Ala., Ima Eubanks of Chickasaw, Ala., Deborah Thomaston (Don) of Chunchula, Ala., Sandra Christopher of Nettleton, and Cynthia Williams (Richard) of Saraland, Ala.; one stepson, Ronald Rush of Jackson, Ala.; one son-in-law, Bobby Gene Murff of Aberdeen; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Rush; one sister, Sue Davis of Lucedale; 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one daughter, Elaine Murff; one infant daughter; two grandchildren, Vicki Murff and Darrell Patterson; one stepson, Roger Rush; and three brothers; and five sisters.
Pallbearers will be David Dabbs, Timothy Murff, Patrick Williams, Michael Guy, Bryan Thomaston, Adam Christopher and Kevin Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Patterson, Airrey Williams, Kylar Poole, Bryan Carter, Steven Carter, Hunter O’Bannon, Tristan O’Bannon, Destin Goodhue and Drenon Benson.

Madge Baggett
RIPLEY – Madge Eaton Baggett, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born July 16, 1925, to Roland Bartlett Eaton and Myrtle Little Eaton. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and also attended North Ripley Baptist Church. She was a retired clerk for FAA Air Traffic Controller in Memphis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Church Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon B. Grimes (Edward) of Liberty, Mo.; one son, Blaine Baggett (Michele) of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Fern Morris of Baldwyn; two brothers, Bliss Eaton of Ripley and Doyle Eaton of Blue Mountain; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Baggett; one daughter, Kathy Manning Strickland; her parents; three sisters, Gilda Cappleman, Fairy Miller and June Roten; three brothers, Basil Eaton, Joy Eaton and Boone Eaton.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel.

Rita Spiers
DIXIE – Rita Irene Tate Spiers, 92, died Monday, Nov. 23, 20009, at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1917, to Carrie and Edward Tate in Carriere. She married Joseph Cazeneuve Spiers Jr. on May 27, 1937, in Gulfport. They were married 70 years before he died Aug. 4, 2007. She never formally worked outside the home, but her real pride was in the meals she prepared and in the pieces she lovingly crocheted for her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Dixie Baptist Church.
Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Dixie Baptist Church. Burial was in Dixie Baptist Church Cemetery. Moore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Spiers (Molly) of Carnes and Joe Spiers (Dorothy Jeannie) of Amory; three sisters, Joy Purcell of Avondale, La., Clara Lenoir of Picayune and Ouida Wilcox of Pass Christian; a son-in-law, Bobbie Earl Tucker; seven grandchildren, Polly Wallis (Randy), Penny Kincannon, Bobbie Tucker (Michelle), Ponda Lee (Bobby), Shane Tucker (Gloria), Eddy Spiers (Patty), and Jeanna Spiers; 12 great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Spiers Jr.; her daughter, Colita Moonyean Tucker; and her parents.
Garvis Gwathney
WEST POINT – Garvis Christine Robertson Gwathney, 87, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus. She was born June 27, 1922, in Winston County to Willie Richardson Robertson and Chester Robertson. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She married John Walter Gwathney on Dec. 24, 1940, in Elaine, Ark.; he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Jim Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point.
Survivors include one daughter, Flora Estes of West Point; four sons, Kenneth L. Gwathney (Martha) of Aberdeen, John Wayne Gwathney (Carolyn), Gene H. Gwathney (Carolyn) and Gary Joe Gwathney (Kim), all of West Point; 10 grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Majai (Tony) of Chicago, Ill., and Margie Hart (Bill) of Berwyn, Ill.; four brothers, Roy O’Neal Robertson (Debbie) of Bumpass, Va., Bobby Robertson (Lavater) of St. Charles, Mo., Cecil Robertson (Dale) of Columbus and Bennie Robertson (Laura) of Florence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Joann Gwathney; and five brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be David Estes, John W. Gwathney, Anthony Gwathney, Jody Gwathney, Matt Darling and Brad Gwathney. Honorary pallbearers will be her friends at Riverside Baptist Church.

Dwayne Richardson
RIENZI – Jerry Dwayne Richardson, 60, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his home. He was born March 23, 1949. He worked in maintenance at ITT/CMC for 33 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Burnsville Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Services with military honors and Masonic rites will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Corinth. Bro. Raybon Richardson and Bro. Frank Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Dee Richardson of Rienzi; three sons, Barry Richardson and wife, Amy, Jason Richardson and wife, Annie, and John Johnson and wife, Tila, all of Corinth; seven grandchildren, Anna Boucher and husband, Benji, John Richardson, Maris Richardson, Margo Richardson, Will Johnson, Reed Johnson and Jayse Johnson; 10 sisters, Lavern R. He was preceded in death by his father, William Franklin “Bill” Richardson; his mother, Nora Nancy Burcham Richardson; a brother, Billy Joe Richardson; his stepmother, Elizabeth Hearn Richardson; and two brothers-in-law, Dr. Frank Earle Henry and Joseph “Buster” Childs.

Shelby Waldrop
CORINTH – Shelby Wade Waldrop, 60, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his home. He was born July 7, 1949. He owned and operated his own business for many years. He attended Farmington Baptist Church. He was loved by all who knew him and he was known for having a heart for everyone.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Bro. Tim Nall officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Christy Waldrop Hinton and husband, Greg, of Corinth; two sons, Casey Wade Waldrop and wife, Cindy, and Jacob Wade Waldrop, all of Corinth; four grandchildren, Graham Hinton, Gracie Hinton, Coley Waldrop and Briley Waldrop; his mother, Marie Waldrop of Corinth; two sisters, Rose Knight and husband, James, and Geraldine Lee and husband, Danny, all of Corinth; the mothers of his children, Linda Waldrop of Corinth, and Teresa Lambert and husband, John, of Glen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Waldrop, and a brother, Gene Waldrop.
Pallbearers will be James Knight, Danny Lee, Justin Knight, Jason Knight, Jimmy Bingham, Chad Simmons, Buford Taylor and Eddie Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Smith, Ravin Smith and Bobby Roberts.

Edward Miles
FULTON – Thomas Edward Miles, 87, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at The Courtyards in Fulton. He was born April 20, 1924, in Winfield, Ala., to Thomas Alexander and Bessie Mae Hawkins Miles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. He worked as a die setter at Day-Brite Lighting.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Bourland Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Bailey of Fulton; one grandson, Trae Bailey of Fulton; and one sister, Marcel Mae Hughes of Marietta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Alice Pennington Miles; one sister, Betty Joan Spencer; and four brother, Uriel Miles, J.L. Miles, Denver Miles and Leburn Miles.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time Wednesday.
Jay Vanderford
CORINTH – Bobby Joe “Jay” Vanderford, 75, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1934, to David P. and Maude I. Maness Vanderford in Rienzi. At the age of 16 he moved to Zion, Ill., where he was employed at The Cookie Factory. In 1951 he moved to Kenosha, Wis., where he was employed at Nash-Rambler (now Chrysler), retiring after 31 years. Upon retiring, he returned to Rienzi. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising chickens, growing various fruit trees and training his dogs.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hight Funeral Home Park Chapel. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Charlene Burcham Vanderford; three sons, Raynie Vanderford and Keven (Tina) Moss of Corinth, and Tony Moss of Rienzi; three daughters, Janet (Harley Jr.) Maddox of Tishomingo, Schar (Joseph) Neu of Kenosha, Wis., and Carlise (Dale) Haynie of Corinth; one brother, Clifford (Helen) Vanderford of Woodville, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Esteen Smith of Corinth and Earlean (Carl) Hill of Hanceville, Ala.; 15 grandchildren, Kier Lewis, Tanner Vanderford, Teagen Vanderford, Aric Vanderford, Jeffry Zizzo, Jacob Zizzo, Joshua Zizzo, Jessica Zizzo, Newman Mattox, Jesse Mattox, Weston Moss, Bret Peacher, Mallory Peacher, Samantha Moss, Justin Moss and Jerry Townsend;12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lester Vanderford, Vester Vanderford and Olen Vanderford; and a sister, Addie Lorean Smith.
Pallbearers will be Raynie Vanderford, Keven Moss, Tony Moss, Jacob Zizzo, Newman Maddox and JC Parker.

HOUSTON – Judy Carolyn Moss Alford Jones, 55, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born June 29, 1954, in Chickasaw County to Carrell Moss Sr. and Laverne Belk Lindsey. She was a homemaker and a loving mother. She was a member of Cornerstone Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston with Bro. Randy Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Forrest Cemetery in Pontotoc County.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Jones of Houston; her mother, Laverne Belk Lindsey; three daughters, Amy Lynn Sullivan of Olive Branch, Shelly Carol Laios (Greg) of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Annie Danyel Alford of Houston; four grandchildren, Hunter Dillion Cates, Jacob Embry Sullivan, Madison Hope Alford and Aiden Anderson Sullivan; three sisters, Bartha Snider of Algoma, Patsy Ball of Pontotoc and Pamela Delotte of Gretna, LA.
