Michael D. Jones
HOUSTON – Michael D. Jones, 17, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, in Houston. A native of Oktibbeha County, he was a student and a Baptist.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church in Houston. The Rev. Carlton Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Houston Cemetery. West Memorial Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of the arrangements.

Frances Moore
JUMPERTOWN – Frances Green Moore, 89, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was born Nov. 24, 1920, in the Dry Creek community to Joe and Delia Ledbetter Green. She married James Tyson Moore in 1939 and spent the rest of her life raising her family on the family farm in Jumpertown. She was a member of Jumpertown United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Green and the Rev. Jason Franklin officiating. Burial will be in the Jumpertown Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Betty Moore Childers and husband, Danny, Jimmy Moore and wife, Tina, Peggy Moore Carter and husband, Raiford, and Berry Moore and wife, Charlotte; two brothers, Whim Green and Bud Green; two sisters, Mae Dean Green Lambert and Myrtle Green Blassingame; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Harvey Green, Wallace Green and Bob Green; two sisters, Ruby Green Smart and Gladys Green Brown; and an infant grandson, Christopher Bruce Childers.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will continue until service time today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Jumpertown United Methodist Church, 886 Hwy. 4 W., Booneville, MS 38829; or the Jumpertown Cemetery Fund.
Roger L. Spell
EUPORA – Roger L. Spell, 64, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Eupora First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Webster Memorial Garden Cemetery in Webster County. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of the arrangements.
Maxine Creel Cutshall
IUKA – Maxine Creel Cutshall, 88, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka. She was born in Golden to John Franklin and Florence Alice Underwood Creel, early educators in Itawamba and Tishomingo Counties. As a very young lady, she married Iuka businessman, Everett Cutshall, and joined him in working in the family furniture business, while also operating a funeral business in the back of the furniture store beginning in 1935. They opened Iuka’s first funeral home in l944 in its present location. She had participated in all phases of the earliest forms of funeral service, including preparing bodies for burial in homes to how funerals are conducted today. Her daughter, Dianne, and grandsons, Bo and Brett, have been inspired by her to continue in the family funeral business. She was a past President of the Twentieth Century Club, the Eastern Star, the Mississippi Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association, and a member of the Iuka United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3l, at Iuka United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jon Kaufman will officiate. The eulogy will be presented by Mrs. Betty Dexter. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett E. Cutshall; her parents; and two sisters, Lois Bostick and Bernice Mink Ware.
She is survived by one daughter, Dianne (Rick) Biddle of Iuka, who worked side by side with her in the business; three stepdaughters, Ellene Nelson of Memphis, Nellie Jo (Bob) Lewis of Illinois and Sarah (Roy) Blaylock of Memphis; one sister, Carmel Barbour of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Bo (Robin) Murphy and Brett (Elizabeth) Brewster, both of Iuka, Max Brewster of Hay Market, Va., her namesake who also shared her birthday, and Brian Biddle of Florence, Ala.; four great-grandchildren, Johnathan Murphy, Wheeler Brewster, Everett Brewster and Nellie Biddle; 12 stepgrandchildren, Monta Earl Lind, Carolyn Densmore, Jack Nelson Jr., Jimmy Grisham, Martha Jane Diana, Ricky Grisham, Talmadge Wright, Mary Jo Wright, Earl Wright, Laura Donovan, Roy Blaylock Jr. and Linda Moore; several stepgreat-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be her trusted and loyal employees, Mack Wilemon. Greg Woodruff, Jackie Grisham, Bro. Jimmy Rich and her grandsons.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.

Darrell Brumley
MEMPHIS – Darrell Dean Brumley, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at his home in Memphis. He was born Feb. 12, 1932, to C.W. “Doc” and Olga Brumley. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired from Velsicol Chemical Corporation with more than 40 years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville. Bro. William Copeland will officiate. Burial will be in Jumpertown Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Steven Brumley; one brother, Farrell W. Brumley (Marie); two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Green and Jerry Green; two nephews, John Brumley (Rena) and Charles Butch Brumley (Mellissa); one niece, Shelia Tyler (Fred); and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Brumley; his parents; and one brother-in-law, Charlie Walker Green.

LELAND – Lillie Pearl “Dink” Buckner, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at her home in Leland. She was a homemaker.
Graveside services were Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery in Stoneville. Boone Funeral Home of Leland is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret T. Smith of Leland; two sons, Donnie Tedford (Monica) of Bolton and Garry Tedford (Shirley) of New Albany; three granddaughters, Tracy Signa (Charles) of Leland, Nikki Smith of Madison and Amy Snyder (Jason) of New Albany; and one grandson, Brian Randle (Suzanne) of New Albany.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Margie Helen Hinkle Shegog, 45, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial will be in Ayers Cemetery in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mattie Choate
IUKA – Mattie Jewell McCoy Choate, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka.
Neal Clement
JACKSON – Aubrey O’Neal “Neal” Clement, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. He was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Pontotoc He graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1942 and served as a U.S. Senate page in Washington D.C. during his senior year. Afterward, he joined the Navy and served 14 months aboard a ship in San Francisco before being transferred to Cambridge, Md. After returning home in 1946, he enrolled in the University of Mississippi, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He received his juris doctorate from the Mississippi School of Law. After practicing law in Clarksdale, he moved to Jackson, and was an attorney for Chevron Oil Company. He later met Howard Stover. They formed Clement and Stover Oil Company, and were partners for over 50 years. During his career, he was successful in numerous other business ventures.
He was a longtime member of Riverside Methodist Church and a Board member of the Wesley Biblical Seminary. He was a co-founder of the Annandale Golf Club and Mississippi magazine. He married Ethel Burdette on July 4, 1953. He was a loving husband and father.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wright and Ferguson Parkway Chapel. Burial will follow.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ethel Burdette Clement.
He is survived by his four sons, Robert Lee “Bob” and wife, Terri, of Franklin, Tenn., Neal John “Neal” and wife, Donna, of Tupelo, Joseph Bruns of Hattiesburg and William Forrest “Bill” and wife, Karen, of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, Drew, Blake, Neal, Abby, Nealie, Carly and Anna; his sisters, Ethel West, Agnes Morris, Mary Lou Lauritzen; and his brothers, Joe Clement, Forrest Clement and Rod Clement.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The Wesley Biblical Seminary or the charity of the donor’s choice.

HOUSTON – Marlene Blanton Brown, 63, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Houston to Marlin Doyle Blanton and Lillian Etheleen Johnson Blanton. She was a retired secretary for Regions Bank and a member of Houston First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Houston Funeral Home in Houston with the Rev. Daniel Herringa officiating. Burial will follow at the Houston Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Brown of Houston; her daughters, Jennifer (William) Gray of Houston and Debbie (Mike) Croft of Caledonia; her mother, Etheleen Blanton of Houston; her sister, Suzanne (Lee) Hamric of Florence, S.C.; her grandchildren, Barrett Gray, Chelsea Gray and Faith Croft.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marlin Blanton.

GOLDEN – A.C. Hammett, 77, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the Care Center of Red Bay, Ala. He was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Itawamba County to Arnold and Sallie Pharr Hammett. He was a factory worker employed at Blue Bell and a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church.

ABERDEEN – Gracie Woods Gosa, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Darlington Oaks Community Hospice in Verona. She was born Aug. 10, 1922, to Joe Woods and Maggie Smith Woods in Lamar County, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a homemaker and a member of West Chapel Church of Christ.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with the Rev. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

RICHMOND – Frances E. Hughes, 80, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Lee County, she was born Dec. 3, 1929, to Relmon and Eulla Mae Ellis. She owned and operated the Quick Stop in Mooreville for over 33 years. She was a member of Richmond Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed working in her yard, and watching golf and Ole Miss football on television. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ricky Pierce and Bro. Jim Wismer officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

SHANNON – Jeanie Francis Rogers Lindley, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehab after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born April 16, 1930, to Clifton and Ruby Rogers. She married Elvis Lindley on Sept. 7, 1946. She was a member of Doty Chapel Baptist Church in Shannon and a homemaker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Marvin Murphy and Bro. Jim Manley officiating. Private burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery in Shannon.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Elvis Charles Lindley of Shannon; one daughter, Sandra Cash (Dan) of Saltillo; two sons, Ronny Lindley (Peggy) of Verona and James Lindley (Donna) of Shannon; one brother, J.C. Rogers (Marqurie) of Palmetto; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Lindley, Rodney Lindley, Randy Lindley, Stacy Tate, Angie Lindley, Shonda Darsey and Jason Easterling; seven great-grandchildren, Jourdan Tate, Bradley Tate, Brandon Lindley, Jacob Lindley, Anna Lindley, Levin Darsey and Lynnon Darsey.

Sam Farr
HOUSTON – Samuel Armstrong “Sam” Farr, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Houston to Stewart Armstrong Farr and Alma Florence Mixon Farr. He was a graduate of Houston High School and Mississippi State University. After his marriage to Roselyn, they lived in Port Sulphur and New Orleans, La. They retired to Houston in 1982, where he owned a successful cattle farm, the Armstrong Farr Farm. He was an active lifetime member of Prospect United Methodist Church. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Air Force. He had many friends.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Prospect United Methodist Church. Dr. Roger McGrew and the Rev. Phillip Dearman will officiate. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Farr Wirick and husband, Rob, of Jackson Hole, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Roselyn Moore Farr; his children, Terry and Rosemary; and his parents.
