As a child she loved the outdoors, spending hours riding her horse along tree lined roads in Northeast Mississippi. She often commented that she found more religion in the woods and along those roads than she did anywhere else. As a child she lived over 50 years in Central Illinois including 30 happy years in Morton. Garnette was a graduate of Texas Woman’s University in Denton and was working as a registered dietician in the V.A. Hospital in Houston at the time of her marriage. She had a talent for many artistic endeavors and loved ballroom dancing. The home that she and George build at 22 Maple Ridge Drive in Morton was the home she dearly loved. One of her greatest joys was furnishing that house and decorating it at every season and every holiday. After moving to Franklin Park Sonterra Retirement Center in San Antonio, she still longed for those happy days in that house in Morton and the wonderful neighbors she had there and all the friends in the Peoria area. Garnette was a member of the Universalist Unitarian Church 3000 W. Richwood Blvd, Peoria, Illinois, 61604. Memorials may be made to the Memory Garden of the church.
