FULTON – Charles E. Bates, 64, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at his residence. Arrangements were incomplete and will be announced later by McNeese-Morris Funeral Home.

AMORY – Thalia Francis Nash, 94, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at her residence.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home. Complete arrangements will be announced later.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Tommy Lee Esmon, 58, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Potts Camp Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jo Nell Loucks
TUPELO – Jo Nell Armstrong Edge Loucks, 89, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at Magnolia Manor where she had resided the last two years. She was born on July 14, 1922, in the Evergreen Community of Itawamba County to Tracy and Bessie Patterson Armstrong. She grew up in Evergreen/New Chapel and graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School. She spent her working career at Rockwell International where she was employed for over 30 years. She was a longtime active member of the East Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU, the Lydia Sunday school class and the VIP Group. She was a sparkling personality who never met a stranger and was never at a loss for words. Outspoken and candid, she loved her family and cherished her friends everywhere. She enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad and was a master gardener. She was married to Marlin Edge who died in 1979 and later married Gene Loucks who died in 1997.
A life celebration service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Jim Williams officiating. A private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her children, Hal Edge and wife, Diane of Mooreville, Coleen Roberts and husband, Junior of Shannon; her children through her marriage to Mr. Loucks, Jan Hull, Celeste Pennington, Paula Loucks and Kam Loucks; her sister, Lillian Armstrong Knight Buse of Tupelo; her brothers, Harry Armstrong and wife, Peggy of Tupelo and Bobby Armstrong and wife, Willie of Panama City, Fla.; her grandchildren, Tammy Pigg, Trevor Jaggers, Tracy Jaggers, Candice Harper, Chad Edge, Mike Roberts and Tammy Faulkner; eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. A special friend from Magnolia Manor, Natalie McKinney and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Jaggers, Trevor Jaggers, Mike Roberts, Paul Pigg, Eddie Armstrong, Wayne Edge and Jim Armstrong.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time and immediately following the service today all at the Tupelo Chapel.

Keith Sumrall
AMORY – Keith Sumrall, 58, died on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at his residence. Born on May 17, 1953, in Cleveland, he was a son of Mary Ann Sumrall and Delbert H. Sumrall. He attended Greenville and Greenwood Schools. Working as a truck driver, he drove for Bill Blount Trucking of Amory. Having a big heart and one who never met a stranger, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies were fishing and listening to country music.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Bill Blount officiating.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Sumrall, of Amory; a daughter, Jessi Sumrall of Calhoun City; sisters, Debe Blount (Bill) of Amory and Pam Dale (Steve) of Vancouver, Wash.; nephews and niece, Ben and Justin Wright of Amory and Katy Alexander of Vancouver, Wash.; and several cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Emily Wright Horne.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

SALTILLO – Gennie Mae Switcher Springer, 83, formerly of Corinth, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at McPeters Funeral Directors Chapel in Corinth.
Burial will be in the Corinth National Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday.

IUKA – Eula Faye Martin, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.

Lucille Townsend
PONTOTOC – Lucille “Lucy” Clark Townsend, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at the Sunshine Rest Home in Pontotoc. She was a native of Lee County and the daughter of Sheron and Cardella Everson Clark. She was a member of New Salem MB Church where she was a member of the mother’s board, the senior choir and the Never Grow Old Ministry. She was a retired cook in the Pontotoc City School District and also worked for Dr. B.T. Sims. She loved to cook, quilt, sew, and work in her flowers. She was the widow of Willie Joe “Sanie” Townsend.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Salem MB Church in Pontotoc with the Rev. Carl Shack, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She was preceded in death by one son, the Rev. Willie Earl Townsend; one daughter-in-law, Denise Townsend; five sisters, one step sister and one brother.
She is survived by four daughters, Jane Ella (Robert) Harris of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gracie (J.B.) Roberson, Linda (Hulette) Duke and Brenda Boyd all of Pontotoc; three sons, Howard (Patricia) Townsend, Billy (Bobbie) Townsend, and Curtis Townsend all of Pontotoc; one daughter-in-law, Mary Townsend of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Gladys Holmes of Houston and Minnie Williams of Shannon; one brother, Sheron Thomas Clark of Grand Rapids, Mich.; twenty-three grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, and family present 6 to 8 p.m. all at the funeral home.

BLUE SPRINGS – Ella Jewel Miller Timmons, 98, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. She was born June 13, 1913 to Walter and Nora Carroll Miller. She was a member of the Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress in the garment industry.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Beech Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Felix Hutcheson Jr. officiating with burial in the Jones Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home of Baldwyn in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Evelyn Hutheson (Felix), James Timmons (Paulette) and Jerry Timmons (Jennie) all of Blue Springs; grandchildren, Donald Hutcheson (Brenda), Bob Hutcheson (Debbie), Bill Hutcheson (Dorothy), Judy Gentry (Roger), Tom Hutcheson (Maira), Lynn Green, Cristy Ford (Melvin), Melissa Hawkins (Marc) and Connie Jernigan; great- grandchildren, Michael Paul Hutcheson (Kerrie), Amanda Shaeffer (Brian), Kellie Greer (Shohn), Will Hutcheson (Tracy), Michael Gentry, Adam Gentry, Tyler Hutcheson, Wendy Hutcheson, Maggie Hawkins, McKenzie Hawkins and Chase Jernigan; great-great-grandchildren, Addyson and Brogan Hutcheson and Felix Schaeffer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vardaman Timmons; a brother, Bill Miller; sisters, Mae Timmons and Dolly Hutcheson.
Pallbearers will be Donald Hutcheson, Bob Hutcheson, Bill Hutcheson, Tom Hutcheson, Roger Gentry, and Marc Hawkins.
Honorary Pallbearers are Gene Timmons, Mark Timmons, Gerald Hutcheson, Melvin Ford and Gerald Timmons.
The body will lie in state from noon till service time at Beech Springs Baptist Church.
Keith Hallmark
RED BAY, Ala. – Keith Elwood Hallmark, 51, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at Generations of Red Bay. He was a native of Red Bay, Ala., a truck driver and served in the National Guard. He attended Belmont United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. Greg Forbus and Bro. Barry Lofton officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery, Belmont, Miss.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Hallmark of Red Bay, Ala.; one daughter, Keitha Hallmark of Red Bay, Ala.; two sisters, Martha Ann Casmus and Mary Henley (David) all of Belmont, Miss.; two brothers, John Hallmark (Donna) of Tupelo, Miss. and Gary Hallmark (Faye) Decatur, Ala.; five step children, Donnie Sides, Brent Sides amp& Sally Hester, all of Red Bay, Ala. and Barry James and Amanda Birdsong, both of Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Kyler Birdsong, Ariel Birdsong, Nathan James, Chelsea James, Cayd Hester, Brenleigh Hester, Connor Sides, Preston Sides, Maygan Sides and Anna Sides; two aunts, Evelyn Shook (Claude) of Belmont, Miss. and Catheryn Moore of Fulton, Miss. and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernell Elwood Hallmark and Elsie Rea Taylor Hallmark.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Sides, Jerry Smith, Gary Hallmark, Taylor Hallmark, David Henley, Jeff Garrison, Phillip Jackson and Chris Hallmark.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Monday, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala.
Patricia Walden
ABERDEEN – Patricia Opal Edgeworth Walden, 67, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born April 24, 1944, to Nathaniel Edgeworth Jr. and Opal Robertson Edgeworth in Aberdeen, Miss. She was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen where she was well known for cake decorating and catering. She graduated from Aberdeen High School and attended Draughn’s Business College. She was a member of River Bend Baptist Church. She retired as a clerical bookkeeper.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Walters and husband, Claude of Greenwood Springs, and Tiffany Dean and husband, Derrick of Aberdeen; two sisters, Ann Tackett of Aberdeen, and Judy Rash of Galt, Mo.; four grandchildren, Collin Walters, Caleb Walters, Madeline Dean, McKinley Dean; two nieces, LeeAnn Thompson and Katy Tackett; one nephew, Pierce Rash; special care givers, Jill Rogers, Lisa Smith, Care Center of Aberdeen Staff; Fresenius Dialysis Center of Aberdeen and Dr. Christopher LeBrun.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Bill Tackett, Claude Walters, Collin Walters, Derrick Dean, Caleb Walters and Fernando Davis.

Becky Easter
AMORY – Becky Easter, 80, died on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Darlington Oaks in Verona. She was born on Nov. 13, 1931, in Amory, she was a daughter of George and Emma Jane Rye Holt. She attended Quincy School and played basketball and graduated from Greenwood Springs High School. She married Herbert Easter on September 14, 1984. Growing up in the Missionary Baptist Church, she and her brother and sister-in-law used to sing a many church services. A great mother with a wonderful sense of humor, she was known for her smiles, compassion, and for helping others. Before becoming a homemaker, she worked as a Nurse’s Aide in Salina, Kan. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, shopping, playing pool, and fishing.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today in Haughton Memorial Park with Bro. Julian Thompson and Bro. Robert Moore officiating.
Everyone is asked to meet at 9:30 a.m. today at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert “Pops” Easter of Columbus; daughters, Cindy Powell (Terry) of Salina, Kan., Debra Hamilton Kelly (Thomas) of Columbia, S.C., Carol Ebenthal (Thomas) of Columbus, Helen McKinley (Mike) of Westville, Fla., and Angela Howard (Bernard) of Columbus; a son, Bert Easter of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Sylvia Hollis (Lesial) of Vernon, Ala., and Darlene Roper of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Herbert Holt (Mary Agnes) of Amory; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae Holt and a brother, John Holt.

Archie Majors
AMORY – Archie Lee Majors, 80, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Golden Living Center. She was born on Sept. 10, 1929, in Bethlehem, he was a son of Artimus Timmy and Elsie Tubb Majors. He attended Monroe County Schools. Working for Glenn Manufacturing as a presser, he retired in 1998. He was of the Baptist faith. A hardworking man, he was dedicated to his wife. Inventive, he could make anything out of wood. He enjoyed quail hunting, listening to classic country music, and going out to eat and taking vacations with his friends. Having a love for animals, especially dogs, he was close to his dog, Willa.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m, Monday, in Masonic Cemetery with Bro. H.V. Brown officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl and Tommy Swan.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Faye Culver Majors of Amory; a daughter, Rebecca JoAnn Majors Dill (Ralph) of Amory; a son, Danny Majors of Amory; sisters, Arvella Cox and Mary Jean Hurley (Drexel) of Amory; grandchildren, Kevin Dill (Brandy) of Amory and Carrie Ligon (Tony) of Smithville; and great-grandchildren, Rebecca Catherine and Caroline Aubrey Dill and Triston, Tyler, and Blake Ligon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Deason; twin brother, Ernest Majors; a son, Tommy Majors; and close friend, Roland Ausborn.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Everyone is asked to meet at 10:40 a.m. Monday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
