CORINTH – Novel O. “Bo” Gray, 100, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Irby Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Ark.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Corinthian Funeral Home in Corinth.
Sally Petigo
ST. CHARLES, Ill. – Florence “Sally” Petigo died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, Ill. She was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Geneva, Ill., to Donald and Margaret Moeller Heath.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home in St. Charles, Ill. Interment will be private.
She is survived by her four daughters, Belinda (Doug) Morrow of St. Charles, Ill., Sandra Petigo of St. Charles, Ill., Margaret (Raven Sheldon) Petigo of Silver Lake, Wis., and Cheryl Petigo of St. Charles, Ill.; six grandchildren, Richard, Nicole, Dennis and Cassandra Morrow, Amanda Sanchez and Matthew Sheldon; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Sanchez; her siblings, Helen Bailey, Marsha Service, Donna (Lenard) Denison, Tina (Charles) Carbon, David (Dora) Heath, Kenneth (Debbie) Heath, and Donald (Joni) Heath Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Derell Wayne Petigo, and a brother, Dennis Heath.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Monday, Jan. 3.

NEW ALBANY – Robert Charles Simpson, 59, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born May 3, 1951, in New Albany to Hugh Paul Simpson and Geraldine Lipsey Simpson. He was employed by the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Serenity Funeral Home in New Albany with Bro. Elijah Dukes officiating. Burial will be in Gerizum Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne Simpson; a son, Andrew Simpson; his siblings, Rogers (Brenda) Simpson, Timothy (Debra Jo) Simpson and Linda Ann (Lloyd) Green, all of New Albany, Paul (Linda K.) Simpson of Ripley, Bryant (Oleina) Simpson of Bowie, Md., and Martin Louis Simpson of Ecru; and uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clifford Simpson.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Margaret Smith
FRIENDSHIP, Tenn. – Margaret Leopard Smith, 89, formerly of Ripley, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. She was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Ripley to John Lee and Kellie Leopard. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church in Ripley.
Services were Tuesday, Dec. 28, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley. Bro. Billy Watkins officiated. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
Survivors include four nieces, Linda Smith (Rickey) of Friendship, Tenn., Mary Sides of Brighton, Tenn., Faye Baker of Byhalia and Brenda Melvin of Atoka, Tenn.; three nephews, William Sides of Jackson, Curtis Sides of Brighton, Tenn., and Jimmy Sides of Memphis; and a half brother, Isom Leopard of Walnut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Smith; her parents; two daughters, Linda Carol Smith and Beatrice Smith; and two sisters and seven brothers.
Pallbearers were Michael Sides, Mac Melvin, Allen Sides, Joe Colllins, David Lavorn and Dale Jones.

Bill Mathis
IUKA – William “Bill” Mathis, 83, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. He was a member and deacon of Fifth Street Baptist Church, where he also served as Sunday School superintendent. He was an U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a printer for over 60 years. He enjoyed traveling.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Fifth Street Baptist Church. Bro. Tony Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Marquita Greenaway Mathis of Iuka; three sons, Kenneth Mathis (Diane) of Iuka, Wayne Mathis (Peggy) of Dennis and Charles “Chuck” Mathis (Donna) of Iuka; one stepson, Harold Greenaway of Idaho; two stepdaughters, Susie Holt (Joey) and Cristy Braddock (Matthew), both of Iuka; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lucille Mathis; his first wife, Bernice Mathis; and his brother, Guy Mathis.
Pallbearers will be Adam Humphries, Phillip South, Joey Holt, Cory Mathis, Chris Mathis and Harold Oliver.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time.

CALHOUN CITY – Britton Douglas “Spookie” Cole, 68, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at his home. He was born July 18, 1942, in Charleston. He was a retired factory worker for Franklin Manufacturing in Houston. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sparta Opry at Sparta and was inducted into The Blues Hall of Fame.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. The Rev. Ryan French will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery at Slate Springs.
Survivors include two daughters, Paulette Lyles of Calhoun City and Dorothy Short of Baldwyn; four sisters, Sue Gutcher of Drummond Island, Mich., Sandy Vaughn of Maben, Cathy Martin of Thorn and Joy Rutledge of Booneville; six brothers, Bill Cole, Ronnie Cole, Tony Cole and Raymond Cole, all of Houston, Robert Wayne “Peanut” Cole of Burnsville and Tex Cole of Hot Springs, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Paula (Quinn) Rounsaville, Wesley (Leigh Ann) Jaggers, Matthew (Myria) Short, Morgan Short, Megan Short, Zach (Memrie) Rounsaville, Corie Rounsaville and Casey Rounsaville; six great-grandchildren, Britton Short, Chaeli Short, Levi Jaggers, McKinley Brooke Jaggers, J.J. Jaggers and Bethany Denise Jaggers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Brooks Cole, and his parents, Alfred Cole and Alma Mullins Cole.
Pallbearers will be Zach Rounsaville, Casey Rounsaville, Quinn Rounsaville, Matthew Short, Wesley Jaggers and Buddy Eaton.

Jamie Pittman
GORE SPRINGS – Jamie Cooper Pittman, 91, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Webster County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church, where she served on various committees. She arranged flowers for the church, served as song leader for many years, and sang in the choir. She was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the WMU. She was a member of the Cadaretta Home Demonstration Club and the Springhill School PTA. She had been a homeroom mother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Webster County. The Rev. Eddie Brock, Rev. Clayton Crouch and Rev. Donnie Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in the Pittman Cemetery in Webster County. Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, June Graham (Danny) of Keiser, Ark.; one son, Merrell L. Pittman Jr. (Mary) of Snellville, Ga.; one sister, Nancy JO Cooper of Hernando; a sister-in-law, Rosa Pittman of Raymond; a brother-in-law, Thomas Williams of Lambert; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrell L. Pittman; her parents, C.S. Cooper and Wilma Stewart Cooper; three sisters, Lillie Bea Chambers, Rena Mae Williams and Odessa Waldrop; and two brothers, Henry Cooper and Earl Cooper.
Pallbearers will be Kobin Worthy, Craig Pittman, Thomas Pittman, Brad Pittman, Michael Watkins and Howard Spraberry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kermit Worthy, Murrell Beck, Russell Cooper and Dan Riley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday.

OXFORD – Sue Lauderdale Lomax, 82, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

J.T. Hughes
TUPELO – J.T. Hughes died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 14, 1953, to Minnie Lee Cowley and Saint Ivory Hughes. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and working outside during the summer months. On Dec. 22, 1972, he married Joycelene Hughes. He was employed at Eljer Plumbing for six years before becoming disabled.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Billy Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. N.L. Jones amp& Son Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Joycelene Hughes; Tony Hughes of the home, Douglas Hughes of Tupelo and Ginger of Nettleton; two sisters, Rexcine Hughes of Nettleton and Pearlie V. (Arlesta) Nichols of Little Rock, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, J.T. Hughes Jr.; his father, Saint Ivory Hughes; his mother, Minnie Lee Cowley; a sister, Roxie; and three brothers, James, W.C. and Junior.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Eck amp& Georgia Shumpert Memorial Chapel at the N.L. Jones Funeral Home in Tupelo. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time.

Charlotte Sluder
MANTACHIE – Charlotte Kaye Young Sluder, 38, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010. She was born Aug. 19, 1972. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She loved her family and friends, and she never met a stranger.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Shiloh Southern Baptist Church with Bro. Henry Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Kayla Sluder and Baylee Sluder, both of the home; her father, Jerry Young (Sharon) of Rio Grande, Ohio; her mother, Peggy Crumpton (Donald) of Mantachie; four sisters, Julie Motichek of Mantachie, Angela Dickinson (Leif) of Brilliant, Ala., and Tara Y. Young and Jerica Leigh Young, both of Rio Grande, Ohio.

HOUSTON – Tommy Lee Parker Jr. died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at his home in Houston. He was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Houston to Tommie Lee Parker Sr. and Jessie Parker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Houston Second Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Houston Cemetery. Montgomery Mortuary Service of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his brother, Robert Parker Jr. and wife, Ethel, and a sister, Williestein Harper, all of Houston; nine nephews, three nieces and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Frankie and Everett; and a special friend, Levora Adams.
The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday.

Delight Murff
ABERDEEN – Idella Delight Murff, 91, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Pioneer Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was born Sept. 25, 1919, to Howard Lee Murff and Zella Delight Murff in Ohio. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen. She graduated from Aberdeen High School and attended Mississippi State University. She retired as a legal secretary for Thomas Fite Paine and William Turner, Attorneys.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one sister, Norma Jean Harden of Aberdeen; one brother, Howard Lynn Murff of Aberdeen; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Phyllis Murff, Patricia Ausborn and Arlene Comer.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Herndon, Ed Harden, Richard Harden, Howard Ausborn, Chris Ausborn and Patrick Bales.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time today at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

TUPELO – Marie N. Wright, 94, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A native of Marmaduke, Ark., she was born March 17, 1916, to Thomas and Nora McGill Thedford. She had lived in Tupelo since 1988. She was the owner of Marie’s Alterations of Tupelo. She enjoyed sewing, loved her family and helping others. She was affiliated with the Pentecostal church.
Survivors include her son, Don Watts, and her grandson, Don Michael Watts Jr. (Doris), all of Tupelo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

TUPELO – Bonnie Ruth Kennedy Tedford, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born March 27, 1931, in New Albany to B.C. and Lillian Ellett Kennedy. She lived in Tupelo most of her life and she was a longtime member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. She was a master homemaker, and a beloved and respected caregiver, especially to her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and feeding her family and friends, and watching her children show horses.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is noon until service time today at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Maharrey and her son-in-law, Rick, of Verona; four grandchildren, Ed Tedford and Blake Tedford, both of Tupelo, Katie Foster (Matthew) of Brewer and Kelsey Maharrey of Verona; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Tedford and Nora Foster; a brother, Kenneth Kennedy (Grace) of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert “Ted” Tedford, in 2004; and a son, Bob Tedford, in 1992.
Pallbearers are Ed Tedford, Blake Tedford, Matthew Foster, Danny Kennedy, Gregg Kennedy, Kirk Kennedy and Blain Butzberger.
