Beatrice Thierbach
NEW CANEY, Texas – Beatrice Thierbach, 90, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011. She was born on Sunday, April 10, 1921, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Grover Young and Gladys Rogers Young.
Services were Wednesday, Dec. 21, at East River Baptist Church in New Caney, Texas. Pastor Roger Hoots officiated. Neal Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Graveside services will be at noon Friday at the Corinth National Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl Solmes (Steve) of round Rock, Texas, and Edgar Thierbach (Debbie) of New Caney, Texas; her grandchildren, Scott Glasgow, Jay Neely (Justine), Amy Warnock (Brad), Brian Thierbach and Christy Lahr (Doug); her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Shaun, Hannah, Isabella, Joanna, Melody, John, Bethany, Tiffany, Colin, Faith, Mallory, Drew, Cole, Caty, Grace, Steele, Emma, Jane and Joshua.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sylvan Thierbach.
Charles W. Mosby
OXFORD – Charles W. Mosby, 60, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Tallahatchie Oxford Baptist Association Building in Oxford. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
Wayne Hinds
RATLIFF – James Wayne Hinds, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his home in the Ratliff community, where he was a lifelong resident. He was born Jan. 17, 1936, to S.M. and Lucille Hinds. An avid outdoors man, he loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family, especially his great grandson, John Taylor. He was of the Baptist faith.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn with Bro. Ray Guin and Bro. Curtis Shelton officiating. Burial will be Oak Grove Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lamois Hogue Hinds; one son, James Hinds (Janet Baxter Hinds); one granddaughter, Amanda Hinds McFerrin (John Boy McFerrin); one great-grandson, John Taylor McFerrin; two sisters-in-law, Elise Hinds and Hazel Hinds; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gladys Hinds, Shirley Hinds, Katherine Ferguson and Nell Curtis; and four brothers, W.C. Hinds, Charles Hinds, Gene Hinds and George Alton Hinds.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Hood, John Marvin Smith, Bud Duvall, Billy Lindsey, Michael Pearce and Tim Curtis.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice.
Florene Starks
RIPLEY – Florene “Florice” Triplett Starks, 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at the Tippah County Nursing Home in Ripley. She was born Aug. 20, 1922, to Willie Triplett and Edna Guyton Triplett in Tippah County. She accepted Christ into her life at a young age and joined Ball Nob Church. She later joined Flatwood Grove Church. She attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and worked at the Tippah County Hospital for 21 years. She was retired.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Flatwood Grove Church in Blue Mountain with Bishop Hardy L. Coleman Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Glenda (John) Dye of New Albany, Edna Mae (Charles) Batie of Toledo, Ohio, and Joan (Broddie) Alexander, Troy Reed (Carolyne) Starks, Bobbie Ruth Rutherford, Betty Jewel (William) Hatch, Wylie Cain (Freddie) Starks and Evon Cox, all of Ripley; a special brother, Charlie (Helen) Ratliff; a brother-in-law, Bishop Hardy L. Coleman Sr.; 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jodie D. Starks, who died in 1996.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family hour from 6 to 8 p.m. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time Saturday.

LAMAR – Henry Lee Tallie, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at his home in Lamar.
Services will be at noon Friday at Samuel Chapel M.B. Church in Ashland. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today with the family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 to 11:55 a.m. Friday.
Earnest Moore Jr.
OXFORD – Earnest Oneil Moore Jr., 60, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services were Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Jeffrie Chapel M.B. Church in Abbeville. Burial was in Owens Cemetery in Abbeville. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of the arrangements.

Mike Ward
COFFEEVILLE – Michael Lynn “Mike” Ward, 59, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his home. He was born March 5, 1952, in Mississippi. He was a farmer and a member of Clear Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with the Rev. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial will be in the Ward Family Cemetery at Banner.
Survivors include his special friend, Mary Lollar of Coffeeville; two daughters, Christy Lynn Ward of Bruce and Tonya Eubanks (Mike) of Water Valley; one son, Matthew Ty Ward (Kayla) of Bruce; the mother of his children, Dianne Ward of Bruce; one sister, Larisa Campbell of Mississippi; three brothers, Jimmy Ward of Bruce, Perry Ward of Tunica and Murray Ward of Bruce; two grandchildren, Brooke Hillhouse of Bruce and Kaden Jace Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis Dude Ward and Gladys Muriel Goodson Ward.
Pallbearers will be Barry Campbell, J.R. Lollar, Doug Ward, Jimmy Ward, Murray Ward, Perry Ward, Ty Ward and Joncy Muscle White.

EADEN, N.C. – James Witherspoon, 64, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with arrangements handled by Wilkerson’s Funeral Home in Reidsville, N.C. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of local arrangements.
Ann Trimble
BRUCE – Ann Shoemake Trimble, 72, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1939, in the Old Town community. She was a retired officer manager for Memphis Chair Inc. and Kellwood Company with 27 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bruce.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Darrell Logan and Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiating. Burial will be in the Bruce Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, William F. “Bill” Trimble of Bruce; two sons, William F. “Bill Jr.” Trimble Jr. (Kim) of Brandon and Arthur Bryan “Artie” Trimble (Tawnya) of Rapid City, S.D.; one brother, Paul Bryan Shoemake of Lone Star, Texas; her grandchildren, Madelinde Grace Trimble, William Reed Trimble, Joshua Bryan Trimble, Ethan David Trimble and Alexa Diane Dorman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn J. “Bill” Shoemake and Grace Bryant Shoemake, and two brothers, C.G. Shoemake and James Timothy Shoemake.

ASHLAND – Stratford Patterson “Sonny” Childers, 64, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born June 26, 1947, to William Stratford and Mary Patterson Childers. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Batesville. He was a member and president of the Ashland Civic Club and served as president of the Benton County Fair Association for 30 years. He was an avid enthusiast and participant of bird dog field trials.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ashland Baptist Church with Bro. William Kemp officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie Rankin Childers of Ashland; one daughter, Alice Thomas (Chris) of Ashland; his mother, Mary Patterson Childers of Ashland; one brother, David Childers (Sherry) of Holly Springs; one grandchild, Jake Thomas of Ashland; four nieces, Amanda Childers, Emily Childers and Olivia Childers, all of Holly Springs, and Gina Costello of Baton Rouge, La.; and one nephew, Matthew Cady of San Diego, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Pallbearers will be William “Dub” Wilson, D. Hoyle Eaton, Richard Tollison, Joe Childers, Pat Patterson, Randy Samples, Wade Griffin and Rudolph Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be W.T. Elliott, Sonny Hawks, Charles Eoff, C. F. Bryan, Rodney Whaley, Robert Patterson and Hugh Buck Tatum.

Treva Moore
RIPLEY – Treva Anderson Moore, 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis after a long illness. She was born Oct. 1, 1937, to Euclid Anderson and Jimmie Turner Anderson. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was a retired vice president of Union Planters Bank in Memphis. Later she and her husband owned and operated several businesses in Holly Springs and Ripley, working side-by side-for over 37 years. Her passions were working in her yard, raising flowers and enjoying her grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Tippah Memorial Garden.
She is survived by her husband, Van E. Moore of Ripley; two daughters, Angie Rooker (Arnold) of Hickory Flat and Carin Booker of Ripley; four grandchildren, Wendell “Munchie” A. Booker Jr., Rhyan Booker, Christan Booker and Taylor Rooker; one great-grandchild, Payton Crawford; one sister, Linda Tigrett (Billy) of Dry Creek; one brother, Glen Anderson (Shirley) of Summerville, Tenn.; one brother-in-law, D.C. Heavener of Walnut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Zane Heavener, Bobbye Meeks, Wanda Bullock and Brenda Noel; and two brothers, James Anderson and Jerry Anderson.
Pallbearers will be Wendell “Munchie” A. Booker, Rhyan Booker, Blake Thomas, Wyatt Hardy Nelms, Kane Tigrett and Tyler Heavener. Honorary pallbearers will be Gaylon Thomas and Clifford Ketchum.

Mayor Kerry W. Hill
RIPLEY – Mayor Kerry W. Hill, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Union County to Eric Mason and Mary Etta Mize Hill. He owned and operated Tire Town for several years, and owned radio station WTXI FM 102.3 from 1979 to 1990. He served four terms as mayor of Ripley and was elected to serve a fifth term in 2009. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a cancer survivor.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ripley High School Event Center. Dr. Rex Yancey, Dr. Jack Bennett and Bro. Steve Cohea will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Etta Mize Hill of New Albany; one daughter, Pamela A. Hill of Southaven; one son, Kerry Bradley Hill (Jamie) of Ripley; his children’s mother, Lois J. Hill of Ripley; two grandchildren, Zak and Sarah Hill, both of Ripley; three sisters, Maxine Cook (Robert), Sue Andrews and Wanda Owen (Johnny), all of New Albany; two brothers, Donald Hill (Betty) and Mike Hill (Susan), both of Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eric Mason Hill.
Pallbearers will be Zak Hill, Donald Hill, Mike Hill, Jeremy Hill, Peyton Hill, Shane Hill, Dale Cook, Brian Little and James Nunnally.
Honorary pallbearers will be the City of Ripley Board of Aldermen and all the employees of the City of Ripley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. to service time Friday at the Ripley High School Event Center.
