Christine J. Rodgers
ZION, Ill. – Christine Jackson Rodgers, 65, of Zion, Ill., has returned home to heaven, peacefully with family by her side, on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at Vista Medical Center in Waukegan, Ill.
She formerly lived in Tupelo, and she reared her children in the Marietta community.
She was born on June 27, 1945 in Blackland, Miss., to James Troy and Ruby Christine BrooksJackson.
She is survived by two brothers and three sisters, Doris Jean Cunningham (Glen), Randall Guy Jackson, Lloyd Jackson (Sandra), Debra Joyce Lindsey (Kim), Lisa Jill McCauley (Danny); five children Travis Dean King, Terry Dwayne King, Martha Dawn King-Hofer, Margaret Darlene Osborn, Penny Lynn Shepherd (Tony); seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents along with three brothers and a sister, James Ray Jackson (Dorothy), Jimmy Dale Jackson (Susan), William Robert Jackson and Janis Kathleen Pounds.
She was a stay-at-home mom, so loved helping to care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed spending time with her family in Mississippi, Arizona and Illinois.
A memorial service will take place at a future date.

‘Sammie’ Feazell
BOONEVILLE – L.B. Roosevelt Junior “Sammie” Feazell, 76, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Methodist Hospital-Central in Memphis.
Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. today at Booneville Funeral Home.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Gaston Cemetery.
James R. Alexander
BALDWYN – James Robert Alexander, 78, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Tupelo to Willie and Effie Guess Alexander. He made his home in Tupelo most of his life, lived in Mantachie from 1995-2006 and in Baldwyn the past four years. He was a self employed house mover and loved to ride around sightseeing.
Visitation will begin at noon today until 2 p.m. services at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel with Bro. David Boyd officiating. Private burial is in Priceville cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pearl Alexander of Baldwyn; two daughters, Diane Jackson and Angie Johnson, both of Mantachie; son, James Alexander of Baldwyn; four grandchildren, Matthew, Kacy, Carly and Kayley, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Kathy Wilson and Ruby Faye Alexander, and five brothers and a sister.

Sybil Gann
BOONEVILLE – Sybil Gann, 91, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. She was born March 23, 1919, to Jim and Lidda Bell Hall Ford. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Visitation will be continue until service time at 3 p.m. Saturday at McMillan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at the McMillan chapel with Bro. Pete McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Rampley (Carroll) and Sheila J. Gann, both of Booneville; one son, Dean Gann (Linda) of Booneville; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, G.W. “Washie” Gann, her parents and several sisters and brothers.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Juanita Martin
FULTON – Juanita Martin, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Darlington Oaks Hospice Care in Verona. She was born Roxie Juanita Hood on Aug. 11, 1927, in Pocahontas, Tenn., to Benjamin Hood and Ressie Helen Barkley. Orphaned as an infant, she was reared by her uncle and aunt, Eric and Roma McAlpin in Middleton, Tenn. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age.
She married Murray Martin Moore of Houston in 1944 and had three children, Elizabeth Ann, Charles and Charlotte. Mr. Moore died in 1954 and she married Charles Martin of Houston in 1955 and had three children, Melinda, Larry and Teresa.
She encouraged her children to seek their education and she worked many years at Charm Step shoe factory to help support her family. She spent countless hours sewing clothes for her children. She was a 50-year active member of East Fulton Baptist Church until her health failed. She served many years as the Sunday School teacher for the Gleaners Ladies class.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at McNeece Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at East Fulton Baptist Church with Bros. Eugene Digby, Grover Laird and Dewitt Bain officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Garden.
She is preceded in death by her parents, the McAlpins who reared her, a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Mackey, a son, Larry Martin, and a granddaughter, Roxanne Mackey.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Martin of Fulton; son, Charles Moore (Hilda) of Mantachie; daughters, Charlotte Digby (Lloyd) of Houston, Texas, Melinda Reynolds (Bob) of Phenix City, Ala., and Teresa McNeece (Jeff) of Fulton; four grandsons, James and Steven Moore, Rusty Martin, Zack Lambert; seven granddaughters, Cynthia Palma, Susan DeAlmedia, Rachel Ausmus, Chasity Peden, Bailey Martin, Anna McCullough, Sara McNeece; 10 great-grandchildren and special cousin-brothers, Don (Linda) and Lee McAlpin of Middleton, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be James Moore, Steven Moore, Rusty Martin, Zach Lambert, Peyton Moore, Don McAlpin and Lee McAlpin.

Bobby D. Walker
ELGIN, Ill. – Bobby D. Walker, 74, formerly of Iuka, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Rainbow Hospice Ark in Park Ridge, Ill. He was an Elgin resident.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Bro. Jack Whitley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

Peter A. Holmes
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Peter Anderson Holmes, 64, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at his residence in Virginia Beach, Va. He was retired from the Merchant Marines, a car enthusiast and a real estate developer.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. today at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Services will begin at 10 a.m. today at Browning chapel with the Rev. Michelle Wood officiating. Burial will be in the Pontotoc City Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Julia Anderson Holmes; sister, Dr. Lee Waltress (Jim), Pontotoc; three nephews, Robert Waltress (Michelle), Johnathan Waltress (Amy) and William Waltress (Lacasta); niece, Julia Waltress; three great-nephews, Rob, William and Halycon Waltress, and a great-niece, Ori Waltress. He was preceded in death by his father, William Webster Holmes.

Scotty R. Voyles
CORINTH – Scotty R. Voyles, 62, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a graduate of Corinth High School Class of 1966 and a retired senior master sergeant veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of East Corinth Baptist Church and was very involved with youth athletics in this community. He enjoyed working with children and had coached at the YMCA since the age of 14. He was an avid golfer and animal lover.
Visitation will begin at noon Monday until 2 p.m. service time at McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors chapel. Bro. Ralph Culp will officiate. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Voyles of Corinth; three children, Kevin C Voyles (Dr. Meredith) of Auburn, Ala., Jennifer Fountain of Huntsville, Ala., and Caitlin McPeters Voyles of Corinth; two brothers, Bobby Joe Voyles of Corinth and Johnny B. Voyles (Myra) of StirBridge, Mass.; one sister, Peggy Ann Wilbanks of Tupelo; and four grandchildren, Cameron Elizabeth Voyles, Mallory Ann Voyles, Anna Leigh Fountain and Olivia Kate Fountain; and his best friend, Baby Bear.
He was preceded in death by his father, G. B. Voyles.
Pallbearers will be Claude Donnie Mitchell, Matt Abbott, Daniel Woolridge, Larry Dillinger, Greg Perkins and Jason Sawicki.

TUPELO – Delma Gillespie Gregory, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Magnolia Manor in Tupelo, where she briefly resided.
Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Monday at the Tupelo chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

CORINTH – Lawrence Clay Walker, 80, of Corinth died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Alcorn Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Gillard Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery with Patterson Memorial Chapel in charge.
Jerry A. Skiniotes
ECRU – Jerry Andrew Skiniotes, 42, of Ecru died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He attended Victory Life Center and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was the world’s best hunter, he loved fishing and loved his family.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc and 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Victory Life Center in New Albany. Services will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Bishop, Bishop Raymond Bishop and the Rev. Mark Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Skiniotes; three daughters, Shelly Wilson (Wayne), Tabatha Johnson (Mark) and Kayla Cook (Chris); two granddaughters, Taliya Wilson and Kailee Grace Cook; three grandsons, Ashton Johnson, and CJ and Christian Cook; his mother, Jearlene Welch; a brother, Corey Welsh; a sister, Erica Welch; grandfather,William Sanderson; stepfather, Raymond Welch; brother, Christopher Gregory; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a very special friend, Brent Jamison.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Irene Sanderson; a daughter, Kaitlyn Skiniotes; father, Nick Skiniotes; a cousin, Bradley Stepp and a sister, Elena Brasher.
Pallbearers will be Brent Jamison, Jerry Allen, Jimmy Joslin, Rodney Page, Corey Welch and Casey Stepp. Scott Moore, Shawn Howell and Brandon Sanderson are honorary pallbearers.

HOLLY SPRINGS – Viola S. Harviel, 86, of Holly Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010.
Visitation will begin at noon Monday prior to 1 p.m. services at Holly Springs United Methodist Church. The Rev. Milton Whatley will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery with Holly Springs Funeral Home in charge.

TUPELO – June Carol Rogers, 76, died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at Rosewood Residence. She was born April 13, 1934, in Memphis, Tenn., to Floyd and Birdie West Wallace. She lived in Tupelo since 2007, moving after many years in San Antonio, Texas.
A loving mother and grandmother, she loved cooking for her family. Fried chicken and chocolate chip cookies were their favorites. She had a love for young children which was evident in the many years she dedicated to teaching. A Christian, her greatest love was for her Lord.
Graveside services begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tupelo Memorial Park with Bro. Lee Allred officiating. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel are entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Auter (John) of Tallahassee, Fla., Carolyn Hall of Tupelo and Linda Abraham of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Christy Korthase (Gregory) of Washington, D.C., Tiffany Morris of Trinity, Fla., Dusty Walker, Sydney and Charles Abraham, all of San Antonio, Rhyanna Dickens and Crystal Brooks, both of Tupelo; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Nutt of Hickory Flat; brother, Jerry Wallace of Sherman and loving friend, Howard Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, George Payne, Jr.
Pallbearers are Jeff Alexander, Jason Maynard, Charles Abraham and Morris McCain.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Loretta L Jackson, 75, formerly of Holly Springs, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Christian Hospital Northeast.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell #1 M.B. Church in Holly Springs. Burial will follow in Bowens Cemetery. J.F. Brittenum amp& Son Funeral Home is in charge.
The remains will lie in repose at the funeral home from 2 until 5 p.m. today, and from 1:15 until 1:55 p.m. Sunday at the church.
