Helen Swanson
PONTOTOC – Helen Swanson, 75, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Graceland Nursing Home in New Albany. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc.
Lou Ree Davis
BOONEVILLE – Lou Ree Davis, 82, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Booneville Funeral Home.
Wilson Causey Jr.
MACEDONIA – Wilson D. Causey Jr., 59, died suddenly Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1952, in Pontotoc County to Dick and Martha Earlene Causey. After graduating from Belden High School, he was a mechanic at Coley Implement Company. He left that job to become a full-time farmer and later owned a trucking business for a short time. After closing the trucking business, he was employed with the Southeastern Boll Weevil Eradication Program for a few years. Then he returned to his real love of farming, which he did up until the day he died. He was a member at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, but actively attended Belden Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Belden Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Manley and the Rev. Jim Holcomb officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Belden. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Martha R. Causey of Macedonia community; one son, Nathaniel “Nate” Causey (Genie Alice) of Birmingham Ridge community; one daughter, Wendy Sheffield (Kell) of Saltillo; his mother, Martha Hammons of Tupelo; two sisters, Joyce Montgomery of Saltillo and Betty Faye Taylor of Plantersville; his close friend and business partner, Jeff McCord.
He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, John Hammons; and one sister, Nell Force.
Pallbearers will be Paul Anglin, Stan Brock, Danny Coker, Jim Hettler, Frank Leggins, Jim Long, Jerry Marlin and Jerry Web.
Visitation will continue from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.

Bethonie Falls
LOS ANGELES – Bethonie Tolbert Falls, 66, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in Los Angeles, Calif. Formerly of Guntown, she was born May 18, 1945, in Tupelo. She was a graduate of Lowes High School in Guntown. At an early age, she accepted Christ at Mud Creek M.B. Church. After moving to California she joined Good Fellowship Church of God in Christ and later West Angeles Church of God in Christ. She worked in printing and publishing at Crest Graphics for over 30 years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mud Creek M.B. Church in Saltillo. The Rev. H.B. Sadler will officiate, and the Rev. Charlie Frank Barnes will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in the Mud Creek Cemetery. Agnew amp& Sons Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of almost 45 years, Charles Falls, whom she married May 13, 1967; her mother, Lillie Tolbert; her stepdaughter, Orna King; three stepgranddaughters, Brittany, Tanya and Orie King; her brothers, Fred Tolbert, Charlie Tolbert (Alice) and James Tolbert (Mary); her sisters, Lillie Alexander (Robert), Dorothy Tolbert and Mary Elizabeth Harris/
She was preceded in death by her father, Warren Tolbert; a sister, Dovie Hale; a brother, Willie Tolbert; and a stepdaughter, Monica Falls.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charles Poyner
DERMA – Charles Poyner, 62, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at The Med in Memphis. He was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Marks to David Carlisle and Jessie Mae Poyner. He was a Methodist and a roofer. He enjoyed the outdoors.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston with Bro. Rufus Martin officiating. Burial will be in Pine Flats Cemetery in Lafayette County. Southern Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Michele McDonald of Derma; eight siblings, Jimmy Poyner of Big Creek, Patsy Obermark and Randy of Missouri, Frances McGonegill and Charles of Oxford, Joyce Jones and Roy of Oxford, Raymond Poyner of Big Creek, Shirley Johnson and Doodler of Houston, Lee Crockett of Houlka, and Danny Crockett and Melissa of Okolona; five grandchildren, Abigail McDonald, Mari Beth McDonald, Jaycee McDonald, and Jamey and Bryson Vanlandingham; his former wife, Pat Lucius of Houlka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, David Poyner, William “Chick” Poyner, William Herman Poyner and Earl Poyner.
Pallbearers include Raymond Poyner, Steven Crockett, Michael Britt, Daniel Britt, Berlin Petty and Michael Cooper.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time Tuesday.

L.J. Smith
PONTOTOC – Leonard J. “Smitty” Smith, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after a long illness. He was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to C.L. and Mary Smith. The son of a World War II naval seaman, he followed his father and two older brothers in joining the military. He retired as a 1st class seaman after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He then moved to Pontotoc. He served on the USS Bonhomme Richard and the USS Coral Sea and several other naval ships during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also worked for several years at Pontotoc Auto Glass, where he was known as “Mr. Smith.” He liked to tell stories about his many travels while serving his country, especially the story about being the “Crazy 8″ card champion of the South China Sea. He loved fishing, hunting, going out to eat and watching old movies, especially westerns. He attended Reynolds Chapel Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with the Rev. Greg Herndon officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Guinn Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hazel Reynolds Smith; his daughter, Patsy Griffin (Tim) of Belden; his son, Carlos L. Smith (Amy) of Decherd, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Elliott Smith, Carlee Smith, Kevin Griffin and Jayme Griffin; his brothers-in-law, Paul Wayne Reynolds, Dual Gober, Wayne Macy and V.P. Ray; his sisters-in-law, Mamie Gober, Avis Reynolds, Rose Smith and Dottie Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, C.L. Smith Jr. and Robert Smith; and sister, Lee Macy.
Pallbearers will be Toby Reynolds, Dennis Reynolds, Randy Reynolds, Paul Wayne Reynolds, Ethan Reynolds, Grant Reynolds and Keith Ray.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday.
David Graham
BARTAHATCHIE – David Lester Graham, 51, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was born Jan. 27, 1961, in Memphis to Kenneth Laverne Graham and Mary Ethel Hawkins Graham. He was a lifelong resident of the Bartahatchie community. He was a self-employed mechanic.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Robert Moore officiating. Burial will be at Ecru City Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Belinda Jackson Graham of Bartahatchie; one son, Joshua Adam Graham (Christina Renea) of Bartahatchie; one daughter, Ashley Nicole Lewis of Marion, Ark.; one sister, Dianna Lynn Ramsey (Billy) of Cheswell, Ore.; one brother, Donald Ray Graham of Eads, Tenn.; and two granddaughters, Aaliyah Angel Graham and Shelby Jane Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

NEW ORLEANS – Evelyn Lancaster Chambers, 99, formerly of Woodland, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Nursing and Rehab in Harahan, La. She was born Jan. 21, 1913, in Chickasaw County to Bunah Reeves Lancaster and Margaret Wilson Lancaster.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Woodland with the Rev. Wendell Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Woodland. Houston Funeral Home in Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Richard “Ricky” Chambers of New Orleans; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry S. Chambers; her daughter, Cheryl Chambers; her sisters, Miriam Ruscio, Jewell Jennings, Irma Small and Eunice House; her brothers, Barksdale Lancaster, Metro Lancaster, Calvin Lancaster, Cris Lancaster, Owen Lancaster and B.R. Lancaster.

BOONEVILLE – Braiden Corey Thomas, newborn son of Brian and Morgan McVey Thomas, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marty Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Makayla Thomas of the home; a brother, Carson Thomas of the home; his grandparents, David and Crystal Humphrey, David and Jeannie Hatfield, Donald and Mary Kay Thomas, all of Booneville, and Scotty McVey of Fulton; three uncles, Jamie Thomas (Laken), Corey McVey and Cody Humphrey, all of Booneville; an aunt, Skyler Thomas of Booneville; his great-grandmother, Daisy Thomas of Booneville.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Charles and Grace Gurley, Myers and Sarah Wroten, and Gene Thomas.

BALDWYN – Charlene Webb, 88, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. She was born March 18, 1923. to Woody and Tula Birch Harden Webb in Fulton. She was a member of Beans Ferry Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Milton Barlow, Steve Shappley and Ronnie Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Clover Ridge Cemetery.
Survivors include one nephew, Ronnie Clayton (Shelia) of Fulton; one niece, Betty Qualls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nancy Qualls and Nell Clayton; and one brother, Homer Webb.

FULTON – Wanda Bowling, 70, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012. She was born on Feb. 11, 1942, to John Taylor Preston and Bellzora Bover Day in Mobile, Ala. She attended Union Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting porcelain dolls and spending time with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Wise (Marcus) of Fulton; two sons, Billy Bowling Jr. and Raymond Bowling, both of Fulton; two sisters and two brothers; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Bowling, in 2011; her parents; one son, David Bowling; and three sisters and two brothers.
