Bo Dyer
RED BAY, Ala. – A.C. “Bo” Dyer, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at his home. He was born Jan. 19, 1940, in Alabama to Lester and Pearl Robinson Dyer. He was an employee of Heil Corporation for 10 years and a member of Red Bay Church of Christ.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Turner Paseur officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dyer of Red Bay, Ala.; three brothers, Ralph Dyer of Savannah, Tenn., James Dyer (Melba) of Golden and Wendell Dyer (Sandra) of Jasper, Ala.; a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Josh Stacy, Derek Stacy, Christopher Bishop, Keith Bishop, Vance Bishop and Bruce Bishop.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today and until service time Sunday.

Delbert Horton
TIPLERSVILLE – Charles Delbert Horton, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Corinth. He was a retired dairy farmer, and he was the owner of Horton Jersey Farm. He was the oldest member of Providence Baptist Church in Tiplersville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Providence Baptist Church with Bro. Tom Wilder officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Kris Horton (Reneé) of Nashville, Tenn., Kemi Ford (Jonathan) of Starkville and Kali Buchanan (Buck) of Batesville; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Payton Ford of Starkville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Renfrow Horton; a son, Joseph Delbert “Joe” Horton; his parents, William Joseph and Olivia Rich Horton; a sister, Mildred Echols; and a brother, Bill Horton.
Pallbearers will be Carl Wilbanks, David Echols, Robert Echols, James Baker, Gene Knight and Ben Knight.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Horton and Bobby Guyton Horton.

Visitation will continue from 7 to 8 a.m. today at the funeral home, then from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

Ervin Tidwell
OXFORD – Ervin Cecil Eugene Tidwell, 72, a retired pulp wood cutter, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at his home near Oxford. He was a lifelong resident of Lafayette County. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church. He was an extremely giving person.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Waller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Odell M. Tidwell of Water Valley; one son, Glenn Tidwell (Angelena) of Water Valley; four sisters, Audrey Fiew, Dorothy Young and Colista Walls, all of Water Valley, and Coline Briggs of Costa Grande, Ariz.; three brothers, L.D. Tidwell, Melvin Tidwell and Donald Tidwell, all of Water Valley; two grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from noon until the service time Monday.

Robert Witt
VERONA – Robert Lee Witt, 51, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Tupelo to the late Hillary Dean Witt and Nancy Geneva Wilson Witt, but lived in Verona all his life. He was a Baptist. He loved his family and enjoyed being outdoors and doing yard work for his friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Verona City Cemetery.

Survivors include one sister, Joyce Witt of Plantersville; one brother, Roy Witt (Linda) of Verona; two nieces, Peggy Witt of Booneville and Jamie Phillips (Shane) of Mantachie; one nephew, Jason Hill of Yazoo City; one great-niece, Georgia Ray Phillips of Mantachie; one great-nephew, Gage Hill of Yazoo City; a very special friend, Debbie Roberts of Verona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Danny Ray Witt.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie McCraken, Shane Phillips, Butch Culver, Bubba Collier and Jr. Rutledge.

Retha McKinney
BOONEVILLE – Retha Louise McKinney, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at her home. She was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Prentiss County to Lonnie and Bessie Cleveland. She was a member of Thrasher Baptist Church and a cafeteria worker at Booneville Elementary School. She enjoyed playing checkers and dominoes, cooking, collecting dolls and angels, and being with her family.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Benton Strange officiating. Burial will be in Little Brown Cemetery.
Survivors include five sons, Doyle McKinney (Bertha), Danny McKinney, Donnie McKinney, Harold McKinney (Kim) and Gary McKinney (Barbara), all of Booneville; two daughters, Joan Essary and Garnetta Hoard, both of Booneville; two brothers, Lewis Cleveland (Betty) of Booneville and Ernie Barrett of Saltillo; three sisters, Ruby Dillard, Lena Jacobs and Ruble Stanley, all of Booneville; one grandson whom she raised, Jessie McKinney; 13 other grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vester McKinney, in 1974; a son, Darrell McKinney; her parents; three brothers, Frank Cleveland, Vernon Cleveland and Wheeler Cleveland; a sister, Lemer Beam; and a son-in-law, Junior Essary.

Pallbearers will be Randy Essary, Anthony Hoard, T.J. Gooch, Jason McKinney, Tony Wright, Joey McKinney and Nicky Wilbanks.

Beverly Robinson
TUPELO – Beverly Jane Robinson, 55, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born Aug. 21, 1952, to Wilma Jeanette Parker Williams. She enjoyed making hand crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Auburn Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Carr officiating.

W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Mays (Jesse) of New Albany and Marcy Bean (Chris) of Mooreville; her mother, Wilma “Bobby” Williams of Tupelo; three brothers, Jackie Williams, Paul Williams and Charles Williams, all of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Corinthian Mays, and Alix and Paige Bean.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Dale Williams.

Kathleen Holt
FULTON – Kathleen Holt, 83, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Itawamba County to the late Walter and Cora Roberts Moore. She was employed at Blue Bell Inc. in Fulton for 34 years. She was a Baptist and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hillcrest Cemetery with Mike Deaton officiating. Senter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Graham (Alice) and Donnie Graham (Christine), both of Fulton; grandchildren, Christie and Michael Shumpert, Carol and Chris Smith, and Amy Franks; great-grandchildren, Katie, Nick, Erin, J.T., Megan and Derek; one brother, W.J. Moore of Fulton; a sister-in-law, Estelle Moore of Sheffield, Ala.

Claude Roberson
BLUE SPRINGS – Claude Rex Roberson, 47, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was an employee of Cooper Tire and a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding horses and mules, and especially enjoyed being a “Papaw.”

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Blue Springs Baptist Church. Bro. Neil Davis and Bro. Chris West will officiate. Burial will be in Bell Cemetery in Union County. Kesler Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Hogue Roberson of Blue Springs; one son, Nathan Claude Roberson (Marsha) of New Albany; three daughters, Jessica Roberson Brown (Adam) of New Site, Tara Celese Blythe (Josh) of Center and Meagan Scott of Blue Springs; his mother, JoAnn Roberson of Center; two brothers, Lawrence Roberson of Ballardsville and Tim Roberson (Gwen) of New Albany; one sister, Denia McCord (Chris) of New Albany; grandchildren, Peyton Nathanial Roberson, Laken Erin Roberson and Santana Taylor; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Roberson; a brother, Jerry Roberson; a sister, Alve Cornett; a sister-in-law, Dianne Roberson; and his mother-in-law, Helen Hogue.

Pallbearers will be Jeff, Chris, Kevin, T.J., Luke and Zeke Roberson, and Eric McCord.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Hogue, Mitchell Hall, Greg Carnell, Darrell Northrup, Terry Manning, Michael Moody, Tim Jarvis and Travis Gross.

Patrick Morse
TUPELO – Patrick Alan Morse, 57, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at his residence after a brief illness. A native of Sacramento, Calif., he was born March 17, 1950, to Bebe Weber Morse and the late Benjamin Wilson. He was a graduate of Longwood University in Farmville, Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was in the cable industry for over 20 years and most recently worked as a sweep supervisor with Cableworks Inc. of Dallas, Texas. Acting was his hobby and he had worked as Richard Gere’s stand-in double in the movie “Sommersby.”

A private family memorial service will be held today at his home. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Morse of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Katie Jones (Keishan) of Charlotte Court House, Va.; one son, Michael Morse of Raleigh, N.C.; his mother, Bebe Weber Morse of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Harmony and Autumn Jones; his fiancée, Patti Parker of Tupelo and her two children, Lauren and Michelle Parker, and her grandaughter, Rachel; his brother, Ronald Morse of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Wilson Morse.

Laura Goree
TUPELO – Laura Monae Goree, 4-week-old infant daughter of Reginald and Lata Goree, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008. at the North Mississippi Medical Center’s Women’s Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Babyland in Lee Memorial Park with the Rev. Daniel McCollum officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her parents, Reginald and Lata Goree of Tupelo; her grandparents, Robert and Maxine Beckley of Tupelo, and Wardell and Tempie Goree of Shannon; her great-grandmother, Essie Goree of Shannon; two aunts, Kathleen Goree of Shannon and Julie Warlick of Tupelo; one uncle, Bozzie Beckley of Tupelo; three cousins.

She was preceded in death by her cousin, Lamnisha Warlick.

Jane Frye
AMORY – Jane Elizabeth Wood Frye, 83, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at her home. She was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Saltillo, Tenn., to the late Joe Mahon and Mary D. Kincannon Wood. She was a resident of Amory for 53 years. A retired teacher, she taught English at Amory High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Frye, in 1991.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Masonic Cemetery in Amory with the Rev. Warren Cole officiating. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one brother, Joe Wood of Amory; several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Jackson, Frank Bates, Billy Farrar, Tony Poss, Jimmy Bost and Herman Hester.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carter Dobbs, Earl Bunch and Fred Brown.

CORINTH – Jessica Raye Bain, 22, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in Corinth. She was a Baptist. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, doing crafts, singing karaoke, cats and dogs, and spending time with her family and friends.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Bro. Travis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her mother, Jennifer Bain of Booneville; her father, Donald Rippie of Glen; one brother, Charles Levi Burcham of Booneville; one sister, Amanda Burcham (Clifford) of Glen; her grandmother, Barbara Bain of Glen; aunts, Betty Parsons (Dwayne) of Burnsville, Angel Holstein (Keith) of Farmington, and Shirley Burcham (Bobby) and Heather White (Bobby), both of Glen; uncles, Ricky Allen (Diane) of Wenasoga, Joseph Bain (Amanda) of Michie, Tenn., William Bain (Becky) of Kossuth and Wilford Bain (Heather) of Booneville; her boyfriend, Ricky “Slick” Willis of Jacinto; several cousins.

Pearl Whitlock
HOLLY SPRINGS – Pearl Stockard Whitlock, 84, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. She was a member of Newell Chapel CME Church in Victoria, where she was a missionary, a stewardess and a member of the Ministers Spouses organization. She was a homemaker and a member of Hebron Homemakers Club.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs with Bishop Thomas L. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum & Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Quenton H. Whitlock of Holly Springs; three daughters, Ruth M. Parker of Victoria, Linda Wilson of Bassfield and Judy Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; three sons, the Rev. Quenton Whitlock Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., William Whitlock of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Jasper Whitlock of Holly Springs; one sister, Mable Whitlock of Memphis; one brother, Lee Stockard of Holly Springs; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.

Cliff Vanderford
CORINTH – Clifton H. Travis Vanderford, 44, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the UAB in Birmingham. He was a Baptist and attended Oakland Baptist Church. He worked in management at Caterpillar. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Dr. Randy Bostick officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Janie Vanderford of Corinth; two sons, Cody Vanderford and Clint Vanderford of Corinth; his parents, Travis and Janet Vanderford of Rienzi; one brother, Marvin Vanderford (Debbie) of Starkville; one sister, Trinette Edmondson (Greg) of Shiloh, Tenn.; one nephew, Hayden Edmondson of Shiloh, Tenn.; one niece, Hayley Edmondson of Shiloh, Tenn.

Dorothy A. Austin
PONTOTOC – Dorothy A. Austin, 85, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc after a long illness. She was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Red Bay, Ala. She moved from Red Bay to Clarksdale. She lived on the Gulf Coast from 1949 until returning to Pontotoc in 1972. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Baldwin, Nowell and Clark Funeral Directors Chapel in Pontotoc with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Forrest Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Johnstone (Richard) of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Jack Lamb of Galion, Ohio; two grandsons, John Allen Austin of Pontotoc and David W. Austin of Huntsville, Ala.; one great-granddaughter, Anna Austin; a daughter-in-law, Cecilia Austin of Charleston, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Winfred Austin, whom she married in 1940; a son, Stephen Austin; and a grandson, Samuel Scott Austin.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Austin, Gary Angle, Johnny Angle, Jimmy Angle, David Austin, John Austin and Rick Johnstone.

Loyce Kellerman
TUPELO – Loyce Alline Kellerman, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility after an extended illness. A Tippah County native, she was born March 2, 1921, to the late Fred and Bama Drummond. She worked 20 years for Community Federal Bank. She enjoyed making stuffed animals and dolls, and sewing custom clothes. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues. The Rev. Mike Hicks and the Rev. Virgel Crisp will officiate. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Kellerman of Tupelo; two sons, Barry Kellerman (Dana) and Ron Kellerman, both of Maumelle, Ark.; six grandchildren, Dante, Barry Jr., Kara, Zak, Michael and Elizabeth Kellerman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mavis Wrenn.

Pallbearers will be Barry Kellerman Jr., James Comer, Lawson McClellan, Bobby Jones, Gerald Wages and Slayden Murphree.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Jasper Sims
OXFORD – Jasper Denton Sims, 81, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He was born Feb. 9, 1926, to the late Henry Walker and Laura Sanders Sims of Charleston. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He later attended the University of Mississippi. He was a sales representative of Mississippi BlueCross-Blue Shield in Columbus and Oxford before establishing the Denton Sims Insurance Agency in Oxford. He was member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford, where he served as deacon, elder and Sunday School superintendent. In addition, he served as moderator of St. Andrew Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Charleston Cemetery in Charleston.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church of Oxford. Visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Womble Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Burnett Sims; daughters Robbie Sims Schuchard (Charles C.) of Little Rock, Ark., and Laura Sims Jackson (James Cecil) of Jackson Tenn.; one brother, James Harold Sims (Nancy) of Lamar; four grandchildren, Scott Schuchard (Michelle) of Little Rock, Ark., Mary Margaret Schuchard Rogers (Tyler) of Jackson, MS., and Mary Elizabeth Jackson and Sims Jackson, both of Jackson, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frances Sims Nelson.

Juanita Rickman
CORINTH, MS – Funeral services for Juanita Rickman, 92, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Cannon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at her home. She was born March 4, 1915, in Burnsville to Bob and Alice Owens. She was a lifelong member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church. She graduated from Burnsville High School, where she was the captain of the basketball team for four years.

Survivors include one son, Randy Thompson (Doris); one grandson, Clay Thompson (Nikki); one great-grandson, Kyle Thompson; a special niece, Gloria Ledgewood; three nephews, Bobby, Jimmy and Horace Owens; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Epperson (Herschel); two stepgrandsons, Michael and Richard Epperson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Quinn Thompson and C.K. Rickman; four brothers, Lilborn, Robert, Loyal and Hubert Owens; four sisters-in-law, May, Vera, Bernice and Lorene Owens; two nieces, Judy Owens and Jean Ford; one nephew, Weyman “Ledge” Ledgewood.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
