Elton Hughes
HOLLY SPRINGS – Elton Dwayne Hughes, 29, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, as the result of a swimming accident on Beals Road new Hwy. 309 South in Byhalia.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Smith Grove M.B. Church in Holly Springs. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1:30 to 2:25 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Thearchie Stephen
SLAYDEN – Thearchie Stephen, 66, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hudsonville CME Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 to 10:55 a.m. Saturday at the church. There will be no viewing after the eulogy.

Christean Kimble
TUPELO – Christean Kimble, 77, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Tupelo Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born Jan. 16, 1934. She was a faithful member of the Usher Board at Hopewell M.B. Church for 54 years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell M.B. Church with the Rev. Curtis McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. N.L. Jones amp& Son Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include eight children, Flora Hill (Jeff), Hazel Depriest (Terry), Johnny Kimble (Gloria), Rickey Joe Kimble, Richard Kimble, all of Belden, Larry Kimble (Amy) of Ecru, and Jimmy Kimble and Jerry Kimble, both of Tupelo; two sisters, Florine Hall of Saltillo and Lula Mae Scott of Racine, Wis.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a very special daughter-in-law. Gloria Kimble; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Eck amp& Georgia Shumpert Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time Saturday.

OXFORD – Selma Boone-Price, 97, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford.

Mervin Jones
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Mervin Lewis Jones, 51, died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at his home in North Miami Beach, Fla. He was formerly of Holly Springs.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs.

Alma Baker
BATESVILLE – Alma Doris Baker, 93, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at her sister’s home in Batesville. She was the widow of W.O. Baker.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial will be at Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to service time Saturday.

Harold Jones, Jr.
NETTLETON – Everett Harold Jones Jr., 74, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a brief illness. Mr. Jones was born on April 22, 1937, in Oakland to the late Everett H. Jones Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Swearengen Jones. He graduated valedictorian of his 1955 class at Wren High School. He later graduated from the University of Mississippi. He spent 21 years in service to his country in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. A devoted and patriotic American, he received numerous medals and citations for his military contributions. He had a second career with the U.S. Postal Service in Nettleton. He retired from the Thomas Street Post Office in Tupelo. He was an active and faithful member of CrossPointe Fellowship in Nettleton. He was a practicing Christian who loved serving the Lord, reading his Bible and helping others through the church. He loved the outdoors, taking care of his yard, fishing and hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nettleton Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Tommy Ray Dabbs and Bro. Aubrey Boren officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Holland Funeral Directors, Nettleton Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Mary Lou Hargrove Jones of Nettleton, whom he married March 27, 1970, in Little Rock, Ark.; his son, David Harold Jones of Atwater, Calif.; his daughters, Jennifer Cooper (Vince) and Angela Kennedy (fiancampé, Jeff Vinson), all of Nettleton; his grandchildren, Austin Kennedy, Blake Cooper, Morgan Kennedy and Rebecca Cooper, all of Nettleton; his brother, Jerry Jones (Dianne) of Amory; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William “Bill” Jones; two sisters, Rachel Elizabeth Dame and Cynthia Ann “Lou Lou” Jones; and a son in law, Keith “Barney” Kennedy.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Coggin, Paul Riley, Cecil Jackson, Jimmy Taylor, Wade Holley, Randy Harmon, Keith Bishop and Austin Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Cooper, Cross Pointe Fellowship members and “C.D.”

CHICAGO – James A. Williams, 71, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago.

Vera Bruce
ABERDEEN – Vera Katherine House Bruce, 83, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at her home in Aberdeen. She was born Jan. 27, 1928, to Edward House and Dorthulah Johnson House in Iuka. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen, where she was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Monaghan, Bro. Mark Thornton and Bro. Jamie Stark officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Clark of Amory, and Linda Kay Stacy and husband, Donny, of Aberdeen; one son, Jerry “Bubba” Bruce and wife, Teresa, of Columbus; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dalton Wade Bruce; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Clark, Dustin Bruce, Jerry Bruce Jr., Donny Stacy Jr., Philip Monaghan and Archie Baker.

Johnnie Hinderliter
BUCKEYE, Ariz. – Johnnie Yvonne Seago Hinderliter, 64, formerly of Burnsville, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at her residence. She was an active participant in the Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse Internet Adoption Program. She was also a former school bus driver and assistant teacher in Buckeye, Ariz.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Allen Osborn officiating. Interment will follow in New Prospect Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Hinderliter of Buckeye, Ariz.; her mother, Lucille Till Seago of Guys, Tenn.; one stepson, Brian Hinderliter; one stepdaughter, Kim Osmondson and husband, Ron; one brother, Mike Seago of Guys; one sister, Anita Crawford of Chapmansboro, Tenn.; two stepgrandchildren, Devin Osmondson and Ron Osmondson Jr.; one nephew, Scott Eubanks of Guys; one great-niece, Stephanie Eubanks; and one great-nephew, Devin Eubanks.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Seago.
Pallbearers include Leroy Moore, Fletcher Whit Seago, Troy Brewer Jr., Richard Till, Jeff Crawford and Eudell Seago.

Bonnie Outlaw
BOONEVILLE – Bonnie Lee Outlaw, 47, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Dec. 4, 1963, to Blanton Milton and Mary Magdelene Harrison Outlaw. He was a member of East Booneville Baptist Church. He was employed by Acco Brands. He loved putting models together and he was a big Star Trek fan.
No services are scheduled. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home of Booneville is assisting the family.
He is survived by six sisters, Debra Henderson , Shelia Ellis and Mary Manley, all of Booneville, Brenda King of Henderson, Tenn., Juanita Miller of Red Bay, Ala., and Elizabeth Thompson of Booneville; and one brother, Milton Outlaw of Booneville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanton and Delene Outlaw, and one sister, Sandra Geno.

CORINTH – Donna Johnson McDonald, 62, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at her home in Corinth.

Rena Everett
OXFORD – Rena Terry Noel Everett, 68, a University of Mississippi Spanish instructor, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at her home in Oxford. Born in Jackson, Mrs. Everett was the widow of George Everett. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oxford and a founding member of the North Mississippi Gem and Mineral Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Anne Kelly and Rev. Jonathan Scanlon officiating. Burial will follow at Oxford Memorial Cemetery.Waller Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her two daughters, Terry Everett of Atlanta, Ga., and Ellen Everett of Oxford; and her brother, Dick Noel of Jackson.

Steve Ford
COLUMBUS – Steve Ford, 53, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the UAB Hospital. He was born Nov. 6, 1957 to Clayton and Twila Davis Ford. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and hunter and liked old cars. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Dyncorp. He was a civilian FSR instructor in Afghanistan.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Jerome Key officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Calder Ford of Hamilton; a son, Matt (Tonya) Ford of Columbus; a daughter, Carmella (Anthony) Smith of Birmingham, Ala.; his mother, Twila Ford of Fulton; his grandchildren: Ashley Smith, Stevie Smith and Kaitlyn Floyd; a brother, John Wayne (Darlene) Ford of Belmont; a sister, Bobbie Ruth (Perry) Brown of Tremont; the mother of his children, Sharon Perkins of Caledonia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Ford, and two sisters, Peggy Ann Palmertree and Patricia Culver.
Pallbearers will be Sport, Kenny and Roscoe Ford, Brian Kennon, Jerry Davis and Cody Vest.

Faye Lomax
IUKA – Faye Lomax, 80, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Iuka Gospel Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Iuka Gospel Church with Bro. Greg Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a son/grandson, Mike Hires of Adamsville, Tenn.; one brother, Roy Province of Iuka; three sisters, Doris Burleson, Sue Cleveland and Annette Strachan, all of Iuka; grandchildren, Dakota Lovelace and Lacey Leas; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lois Lomax; a son, Bobby Lomax; a daughter, Myra Lomax Page; her parents, Walter and Beulah Province; and two brothers, Charles Province and Bill Province.

NETTLETON – Tony H. Brown, 49, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at his home in Nettleton. He was born April 14, 1961, in Memphis to Joe Brown and the late Lois Griffin. He received his education from Amory schools, Itawamba Community College in Tupelo and Mississippi State University. He was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church and an employee of Hickory Spring.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Laura B. Brown of Nettleton; his father, Joe Brown of Memphis; an aunt who reared him, Willie Griffin of Nettleton; three stepdaughters, Mary Randle (Unshay) of Okolona, Denise Buchanan of Verona and Demetrice Buchanan Rogers of Tupelo; one stepson, Chris Buchanan of Verona.
