OXFORD – Lorraine Kimmons, 89, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a native of Lafayette County. She was a member of East Providence M.B. Church and a retired domestic worker.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church in Oxford with the Rev. Andrew Robinson Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one sister, Annie Mae Jones of Tupelo; a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Margaret Robinson
SHILOH, Tenn. – Margaret Robinson, 81, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at the McNairy Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, painting and cooking.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shady Grove Cemetery in Shiloh, Tenn. Bro. Paul Thacker will officiate. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Price (Kenneth) of Shiloh, Tenn., Brenda Barber (Barry) of Savannah, Tenn., and Beverly Drummond (Danny) of Kite, Ga.; two sisters, Berdina Smith of Corinth and Betty Lambert of Iuka; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph O.G. Robinson; a son, Joseph Wayne Robinson; and a grandson, Joseph D. Robinson.

CORINTH – John B. Burgess, 90, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Corinth.

Rayburn Cox
NETTLETON – James Rayburn Cox, 60, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home near Nettleton after a long illness. He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Monroe County to James Russell and Neuneader Worthey Cox. He attended Wren Elementary School and graduated from Nettleton High School in 1965. He married Lucy Earnest on Sept. 7, 1965. He worked for many years as an electrician and in 1978 he became the owner of Cox Frames. He served as the supervisor in the 5th District of Monroe County from 1992 through 2003. He was a member of Wren Church of Christ. He enjoyed working in his garden and going fishing.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Wren Church of Christ with Bro. Tommy Lawson and Bro. Mural Worthey officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Cox of Nettleton; three daughters, Jennifer White, Tracy Mills and Stacy Foster (Robby), all of Nettleton; one son, James Rayburn “Beau” Cox II (Amy) of Southaven; 10 grandchildren, Rocky, Hunter, Kirsten and Laken Foster, Ty, Lexi and Eli White, and Dane, Savannah and Jade Mills, and their father, Dewayne Mills; four sisters, Melinda Walls (Sam), Hazel Lewis, Eunice McCuller and Joyce Williams; a sister-in-law, Flora Hunsucker; a brother-in-law, J.C. Earnest; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Merl and Phyllis Kincade.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Haley Foster.

Pallbearers will be Lavon Worthey, Charlie Walls, Mike Lewis, Bobby T. Griggs, Craig Kincade and Lance McCuller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randle Gray, Jesse Worthey, Gerald Worthey and Merl Kincade.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time today.

Varnell Sheffield
FULTON – Varnell R. Sheffield, 88, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Courtyard Community Living Center. She was born June 6, 1920, to Will T. and Lula Nanney Riley. She was a member of Friendship Methodist Church for more than 80 years. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.

She lived her life around her church.

Services were Tuesday, July 22, at the Friendship Methodist Church. The Rev. Harold Manning officiated. Burial was in Dorsey Memorial Cemetery.

McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one son, William “Pookie” Sheffield (Bonnie) of Fulton; two daughters, Nan Long (Jim) of Fulton and Janet Loden (Jimmy) of Marietta; eight grandchildren, Kim Long (Brian), Amy Webb (Mike), Derek Sheffield (Susan), Amanda Bundy (Doug), Justin Sheffield (Greta), Kip Loden (Julie), Jason Loden (Missy) and Bronson Loden (Teresa); 12 great-grandchildren, Jake Long, Erin Long, Isabella Webb, Amelia Webb, Wes Sheffield, Christian Sheffield, Bayleigh Sheffield, Crissen Loden, Bethany Loden, Libby Loden, Ivy Loden and Blake Loden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Davis Sheffield, on Dec. 5, 1951; her brothers, Noonan, Waldrep, John and Joe Riley; her sisters, Dovie Schumpert, Buena Boren, Gladys Riley and Xzilda Renshaw; and her parents.

Charlie Eubanks
MYRTLE – Charlie Wayne Eubanks, 44, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at his home. He was born Dec. 10, 1964, in Marks to Mary Sartin Eubanks and Thomas Young Eubanks Sr. He was a graduate of Horn Lake High School.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Elizabeth Eubanks of Horn Lake; one brother, Thomas Young Eubanks Jr. of Horn Lake; one sister, Dianne Bechel of Byhalia; his companion of 23 years, Don Upchurch of Myrtle; nieces and nephews, Amber Rae Boyd of Pearl River, La., Trisha Dianne Pounders of Hernando, and Latrina Eubanks, Jymmi Eubanks, Danni Eubanks, Kelsey Jones and Dalton Jones, all of Horn Lake.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Young Sr.; a sister, Rebecca Lynn Eubanks; and a brother, Danny Terrell Eubanks.

Glenda Trimble
HAMILTON – Glenda Kay Hall Trimble, 49, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Hamilton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church in Hamilton. The Rev. Benjamin Wax will officiate. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery in Hamilton. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Lillie Bell Hall; two daughters, Emily Hall and Ashley Hall of Hamilton; three brothers, Lester Danner (Rose) of Maryland, and Preston Danner and Willie A. Hall of Hamilton; three sisters, Laura Hall and Wanda Dobbs of Hamilton, and Patricia Johnson of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, Keiaundra, Jamyiah, Tyheim and Kalam.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Frank Hall; her husband, Ollie Trimble Jr.; and a brother, Hosie Danner.

Visitation will be today at the funeral home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Elmer Brown
FALKNER – Elmer Reese Brown, 78, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home in Falkner. He was a retired police officer for the Greenville Police Department and a retired employee of the APAC Asphalt Plant. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Hamilton Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Bro. James Melton and Bro. Michael Wilbanks officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Walnut.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Katheryn Hughes Brown of Falkner; one daughter, Debbie Baggett (David) of Corinth; one son, Jerry Brown (Brenda) of West Monroe, La.; two brothers, Floyd Brown of Burleson, Texas, and Billy Brown of Rossville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Kristie Barksdale of Austin, Texas, Kim McAbee of Seymour, Tenn., Larry Devore of Ripley, and Heath Brown, Matt Brown and Crystal Devore, all of Walnut; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoarse L. and Azalee Street Brown; a son, David Brown; and a sister, Mamie Nance.

Pallbearers will be Heath Brown, Matt Brown, Larry Devore, Andy Zills, David Baggett and Bryan Barksdale.

PONTOTOC – Larry Dean Fitts, 59, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home. He was a retired business owner and a Mason. He was a Christian and a member of New Robbs Bethel Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at New Robbs Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Fitts and Bro. Samuel Vance officiating. Burial will be in Mize Memorial Cemetery at Robbs. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Thompson (David) and Amanda Swindle (Calvin), both of Pontotoc; one son, Larry Dale Fitts of Pontotoc; his stepmother, Nell Fitts of Pontotoc; one sister, Michelle Kirby (Paul) of Blue Springs; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Fitts; his mother, Ruby Turner; and a brother, Randy Fitts.

Pallbearers will be David Thompson, Calvin Swindle, Larry Joe Austin, Bruce Austin, Joseph Austin and Jimmy Logan.

Leo Wallace
PONTOTOC – Leo Wallace, 66, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home in Pontotoc after a long illness. He was born Oct. 25, 1941, in Pontotoc County. He was an employee of Super Sagless for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Baldwin, Nowell and Clark Funeral Home with Dr. David Hamilton and Bro. Kevin Wallace officiating. Burial will be in West Heights Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Wallace of Pontotoc; one daughter, Lisa Swords (Marty) of Ecru; one son, Bro. Kevin Wallace (Christi) of Pontotoc; two sisters, Hazel Forman (Bobby) and Bobbie Nell Ferguson (Bobby), both of Corinth; one brother, Dennis Ray Wallace (Nelda) of Pontotoc; four grandchildren, Matt Wallace (Kristy) of Clinton, Andrew Wallace of Pontotoc, and Ale and Collin Swords of Ecru.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ona Mae Wallace, and a sister, Ethel Mae Pierce.

CORINTH – Jean Alline Alexander, 66, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Huntsville, Ala. She was a graduate of Wick-Anderson High School in Booneville. She worked for ITT/Cortelco/CMC for 25 years. She was an active member of Meigg Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and playing with her grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Meigg Street Church of Christ with Bro. Will Luster officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Corinth. Patterson Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her mother, Wauline McGee; two sons, Reginald Alexander and Fredic Alexander; four brothers, David McGee, Frank McGee, L.J. McGee and William McGee; two sisters, Ophelia Crawford and Ann McGee; grandchildren, Ricky, Michaela, Anderson, Avery, Aaren and Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Alexander, and her father, Willie C. McGee.

Albert Posey
ECRU – Albert Everett Posey, 68, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home. He was an auto body repairman and a used car dealer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Ecru with the Rev. Roger Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Creek Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Paulette Bryant Posey of Ecru; one daughter, Brandi Posey Bland (Lynn) of Ecru; one brother, Calvin Posey of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Chester Posey and Mary Collins Posey; and his siblings, Eva Blansett, Thomas Posey, Clarence Posey and Ben Posey.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Hallam, Rony Herring, Shawn Pettit, Sonny Snider, Paul Cecerre and John Listenbee.

CORINTH – Callie Pauline “Mama” Austin, 75, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Mississippi Care Center. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She worked as a cook at various restaurants for 29 years. She loved her family and friends, and enjoyed cooking and fishing.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church. Bro. Lim Couch will officiate, and Bro. George Bland will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include six daughters, Nita Talley
(Carroll) and Irene Lambert (Clifford Balentine), both of Savannah, Tenn., Mary Ann Couch (Lim) of Hernando, Shirley Bascomb (Warren) and Lurley Johnson, both of Corinth, and Nina Hughes (Bubba) of Atoka, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Audrey Stevenson (Mike) of Olive Branch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Mills; one son, Julius Larkin Houston; her father, Noey Bert Dees; her mother, Annis Dees; five brothers, James Dees, Billy Bert Dees, Noey Ervin Dees, Willie Dees and Buddy Dees; and two sisters, Odean Smith and Eleanor Dye.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Smith, Donald Smith, Jason Spencer, Dale Stevenson, Junior Bascomb and Scotty Lambert.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Mississippi Care Center staff.

Thomas Gates
FULTON – Thomas George Gates died Saturday, July 19, 2008. He was born Jan. 5, 1941. He was pastor of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Red Bay, Ala., for 12 years. He was a member of St. Matthew M.B. Church in Fulton. He was an avid sports fan and served as commissioner of the Tombigbee Waterway Baseball League. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Matthew M.B. Church with Pastor Andrew Green officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton Community Cemetery. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Gates; five sisters, Christine Gray, Sara (Lee) Fountain, Barbara Gates, Edith Gates and Gloria Gates; three brothers, Thomas Gates, Joey Gates and Larry Gates; six sons, Ray (Jackie) Gates, Reginald Gates, Darryl Gates, Jessie Gates, Orlando Gates and Lanardo Gates; five daughters, Torria L. Gates, Michelle Byars, Natasha (David) Cole, LeAnna Gates and Shaquail Gates; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

HORN LAKE – Deborah Lynn Orman Pesce, 50, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Trinity Mission Nursing Home in Holly Springs. She was an account executive for Holiday Inns Corporate Office in Memphis. She was a Baptist.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Friendship Cemetery at Ashland. Bro. Edd McCafferty will officiate. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Stacy Lynn McMahon of Altoona, Pa.; one son, Bryan David McMahon of Horn Lake; two stepsons, Jeffery Pesce and Phillip Pesce, both of Southaven; two brothers, Roger Orman of Cordova, Tenn., and Tim Orman of Darden, Tenn.; two stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Pesce; her father, Lonnie Dewitt Orman; and her mother, Shirley Mae Avant Wilbanks.
