BURNSVILLE – Bonnie Jo Horne, 73, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Spirit and Truth Non-Denominational Church. Burial will follow in Harmony Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation began at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012, and will continue until service time Tuesday.

Kermit Byrd
SHANNON – Kermit Zeltra Byrd, 74, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Tupelo. Kermit was born on Nov. 30, 1936, in the Byrd community of Marion County, Ala., to Noah Kermit and Velma Gay Parmer Byrd. He lived in Tupelo most of his life, graduated from Tupelo High School and spent over 35 years with the J.J. Rogers Company, retiring as a supervisor. Mr. Byrd was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Verona and was a fine Christian man. A former Sunday school teacher and youth leader, he and his wife were affectionately known as Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy to the children. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, all outdoors, gardening and flowers, cooking and woodworking. He loved all things Mississippi State.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Verona with his brother, Bro. Alton Byrd delivering personal and family reflections and Bro. Donnell Nichols officiating. Burial will be private. Holland Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy M. Byrd of Pleasant Grove community; his special daughter and caregiver, April Dawn of Pleasant Grove; four sons, Gary Byrd (Sandra), Chris Byrd (Sondra), Tracy Byrd (Tina) and Shawn White (Dwana), all of Mooreville; one brother, Bro. Alton Byrd (Brenda) of The Colony, Texas; uncles, Delmer Byrd and Charles Lee of Tupelo. Special friends and brothers in Christ, Bro. Donnell Nichols and Patrick Ambrose.
Pallbearers will be Anthon Nichols, Titus White, Ronnie Metcalf, Dewayne Jones, Lamar, Patrick and Melvin Ambrose and Mr. Berry.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors and from noon until service time Tuesday at the Church.

Ruby Mills
FULTON – Ruby Lou Mills, 98, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at her home. She was born Nov. 26, 1913, in Fulton to Napolean Bonapart and Texas Wheeler Johnson. She was the oldest member of the Verona Church of Christ, which her father established. She was a homemaker and a factory worker. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers and gardening.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pine Grove Church of Christ with Minister Wayne Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. McNeece- Morris Funeral Home in Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Lynn Staples of Fulton and Betty Yates ( Ronald) of Ripley, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Bonita Clements, Keith Yates, Annelida Lackey, Tracy Petty, Mitzi Thompson, Wendy Isam, Tina Strong, Elzie J. Staples, Jamie Staples and Christie Clifton; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, Abel Clements.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie Burl Mills; one son, Jessie Keith Mills; one brother, Hubert Johnson; three sisters, Olena Powell, Cloe Tucker, and Vonsie Taylor; and her parents.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 today at McNeece- Morris Funeral Home. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to services.
Danny Hendrix
SHERMAN – Danny Kay Hendrix, 61, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Truman, Ark., in September 1958, to Ralph and Mimie Bryant Hendrix. He was a former employee of Boyd’s Flowers and attended Locust Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed walking, flea markets, growing vegetables and flowers.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Sammy Little officiating. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Brock (Joel) of Baldwyn; son, Jeff Hendrix of Baldwyn; grandchildren, Wesley Brock, Joyce Lee; sister, Patty Porter of Heber Springs, Ark.; brothers, Tommy Hendrix and Gaylon Hendrix of Forrest City, Ark.; fiancampée, Rebecca Wolfe of Tupelo; mother of his children, Sharon Harrison of Tupelo; aunts, Wanda Crabb of Baldwyn, Joyce Macon of Forrest City, Ark., Edna Williams of Killen, Ala., and Oneida Potter of Mariana, Ark.; and special friend, Tommy Lee of Nettleton.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Brock; and brothers, Larry and Gale Hendrix.
Visitation is at 5 p.m. until service time Tuesday.

Mae Stanford
SALTILLO – Mae Stanford, 90, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born in Saltillo on Sept. 24, 1921, to Oscar and Minnie Pearl Sanders Smith. She retired after 25 years of service as a seamstress from Reed’s Manufacturing. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Saltillo. She loved working with her flowers and keeping her yard. She loved singing and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Merle Floyd officiating with a graveside service to follow at the Saltillo Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby Hankins and Linda Davis (David), both of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Wendell Hankins (Debbie), Rita Loden (Andy), Karen Hill (Dewayne) and Kenny Hankins (Rhonda), all of Saltillo; nine great-grandchildren, Felecia Levitt, Kristian Joshlin, Bethany Bishop, Marci and Jarrett Hill, Kaitlyn, Hannah and Andrew Hankins and Lexi Loden; five great-great grandchildren, Ava, Addi and Georgia Joshlin and Tristan and Austin Thornton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Guy Stanford; her parents; her stepfather, Benjamin Smith; six sisters; one brother; and one son-in-law, G.L. Hankins.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Hankins, Kenny Hankins, Dewayne Hill, Andy Loden, Chris Joshlin, Levi Bishop and Nate Jones.

Lloyd Mars
IUKA – Lloyd Franklin “Buddy” Mars, 83, of Iuka, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Greg Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Mars of Iuka; one son, Lloyd Shane Mars (Heather) of Iuka; two daughters, Joyce Ann Tubb of Tupelo and Patty O’Neill of Iuka; two sisters, Ora Faye Wadkins and Annette Johnson, both of Iuka; one grandchild, Angela Skelton (David) of Brentwood, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren, Blake Skelton, Erika Skelton and Colin Mars.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nick Tubb; his parents, Herbert and Virgie Mars; a brother, Gerald Mars; and three sisters, Pauline Hendrix, Floy Schaffer and Cora Mae Berryman.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka.

Frances Faulkner
AMORY – Frances Phillips Faulkner, 81, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at her daughter’s residence in Cordova, Tenn. Born on Sept. 1, 1930, in Hatley, she was the daughter of William Gurdon and Oal Smith Phillips.
She graduated valedictorian of her class at Hatley High School in 1948. For more than 30 years, she worked with Dr. B.O. Moore as a registered nurse and office manager and also with Dr. Eddie Yoe’s office. She was a lifelong devoted member of the Church of Christ. She always believed people are basically good, and deserve a second chance when making mistakes and always forgave them accordingly. Having a great sense of humor, she enjoyed the University of Memphis basketball, reading , walking, doing yard work, exercising and music by Elvis Presley and Tom Jones and country music.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Amory Church of Christ with Minister Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Faulkner of Cordova, Tenn.; son, Kim Faulkner, Story, Wyo.; sister, Nel Justice (Arch); brother, Don Phillips (Ellen), both of Amory; and nephew and niece, Mike Justice and Donna Edwards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Karen Justice.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Vaughan, Wayne Howell, Dylan Edwards, Matt Schneider, Jim Birgham and Dr. Henry Watson.
The body will lie in repose at the church from 9:45 a.m. until the service hour at the church.

NEW ALBANY – Hattie E. Sanders, 95, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Baptist Memorial-Union County Hospital in New Albany. She was secretary for Beasley Funeral Home for 43 years, licensed funeral director, a member of Watson Grove M.B. Church where she was a member of the mother board ministry and church musician and a faithful member.
Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Grove M.B. Church with Pastor Avence Pittman Jr. officiating with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Beasley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Hattix (Mary V.) of New Albany and Thomas Hattix (Mary B.) of Germantown, Tenn.; her grandchildren and caregivers Charles Hattix Jr. and Geraldine of Blue Springs; a daughter-in-law, Myrtle Hattix of Omaha, Neb.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Ronny Phifer
IUKA – Ronny Lynn Phifer, 54, of Iuka, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and drawing.
Services are at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Keith Curtis. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Mack Phifer and Clint Phifer, both of Iuka; his stepfather, Odester Wilson of Iuka; and one sister, Brenda Turner Dunigan of Calvert City, Kent.
Pallbearers include Mark Williams, Mike Brumley, Bobby Phifer, Chris James, Gary Clark and Ricky Dean Whitfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, N. C. Phifer; and his mother, Orene Nelson Wilson.

WALNUT – Myrtle Laverne Wiggs, 82, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She worked for Wurlitzer and Magnolia Hospital. She was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her nephew, Robert Wilbanks (Janet) of Clio, Mi.; special cousins, Edna Hall of Michie, Tenn., Marie Miles and Girtie Hunt, both of Walnut; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin L. Wiggs Jr.; her parents, Hosea and Dovie Crum Wilbanks; and her brothers, Vance Wilbanks and an infant sibling.
