NETTLETON – Edna Mitchell Hamric, 92, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona after an extended illness. She was born on March 5, 1918, in Vina, Ala. to Robert and Emmie Carpenter Mitchell but had resided in Nettleton for the past 48 years. She was a retired seamstress and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Verona. She enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Pharr and the Rev. Eugene Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Oliver (James) of Riverside, Ala. and Marvlene Parker of Nettleton; one son, Wayne Hamric (Elizabeth) of Okolona; one daughter-in-law, Christine Hamric of Nettleton; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Hamric; her parents; three sisters, Gwendolyn Belcher, Larie Black and Pearlie Uptain; and one brother, Leston Mitchell.
Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

BALDWYN – Fred H. Benjamin, 82, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Baptist Hospital in Booneville after an extended illness. He was a retired school teacher, teaching at Shannon for two years and in the Baldwyn School System for 26 years. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church for over 53 years where he taught Sunday school for 46 years, sang in the choir and was an inactive deacon. He was the oldest of 14 children born to Fred and Ruby Stacy Benjamin. He was known as “Me Daddy” to all of his grandchildren. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Cossey and Bro. Chester Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens. Waters Funeral Home of Baldwyn is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sara Benjamin of Baldwyn; one daughter, Mona Speck (Ronald) of Baldwyn; two sons, Tim Benjamin (Mitzi) of Baldwyn and David Benjamin (Janet) of Baldwyn; and seven grandchildren, Brandon Speck (Jessica), Alana Wallis, John Speck, Jennifer Mims (Cory), Jessica Austin (Ray), Josh Benjamin (Chastity) and Tabitha Otto (Donnie).
He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Dustin Otto, Anna, Jaxon and Hailey Mims, Eli and Madison Wallis, Bryson and Tyler Austin and Trace Benjamin; his sisters, Nellie Jones of Alabama, Hortense Edge of Reinzi, Molly Forsythe of Reinzi and Grace Gunter of Arkansas; and his brothers, Smith Benjamin of Iuka, Irb Benjamin of Clinton and Jerry Benjamin of Blackland.
Pallbearers will be his adult men’s Sunday school class.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.
BOONEVILLE – Mildred Reeves, 88, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at The Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McMillan Funeral Home.
SALTILLO – Boyce Wayne Palmer, 66, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Plantersville on March 2, 1944, to Arlie Jewett and Burma Lee Patton Palmer. He was a printing press operator with Weatherall’s Printing of Tupelo for 15 years, and he retired from Star Printing of Amory after many years of loyal employment.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Tim Winters officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Palmer and his wife, Vicki and Trevor Palmer and his wife, Heather, both of Tupelo; one daughter, Deborah McCoy and her husband, Ronnie of Baldwyn; and six sisters, Janette Nash and her husband, Darwin of Jackson, Janell Palmer of Birmingham, Dorothy Kennedy and her husband, Lee of Amory, Frances Dill of Westpoint, Linda Counts and her husband, William amp”Shortyamp” of Hatley, Joyce Cantrell and her husband, David of Tupelo.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Shey Washburn and her husband, Luke of Horsham, Pa., Chris Palmer and his wife, Angela of Starkville, Hunter Riley of Tupelo, Kyle Palmer of Tupelo, Chelsea Palmer of Tupelo, Houston McCoy of Baldwyn, Will Palmer of Tupelo, Meg Palmer of Tupelo and Jacob Christian of Mooreville; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Riley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arlie Jewett Palmer; his mother, Burma Lee Palmer; and four brothers, Charles, Arlie, Trice and Cecil Palmer.
Pallbearers will be George Snow, Michael Snow, Brad Lackey, Chris Palmer, Hunter Riley and Houston McCoy.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Christian.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

FULTON – Ravious H. Rogers, 85 died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at his daughter’s home in Nettleton. He was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Itawamba County to Thomas Edmond and Mary Elizabeth Mitchell Rogers. He was a 33rd degree Mason. He retired from Itawamba Mfg. where he worked as a shipping clerk. After retiring, he worked for Fulton Head Start for over 20 years. He attended Cross Point Fellowship Church.
Services with Masonic rites will be at 11 a.m. today at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Ray Dabbs officiating. Wes Riley and Luke Adkins will give eulogies. Burial will be in Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Gail Riley of Nettleton; three grandchildren, Wes (Amy) Riley, DeAnna Adkins and Tina (David) Young; nine great-grandchildren, Luke Adkins, Joseph Young, Jonathan Young, Elizabeth Riley, Mari Anna Young, Will Riley, Maggie Riley, Adam Adkins and Sam Riley; and one great-great-grandchild, Reed Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cumi Rogers in 2003; two brothers, McKenley Rogers and L.C. Rogers; and three sisters, Minnie and Winnie Rogers and Luna Moore.
Pallbearers will be his nine great-grandchildren and his one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

SALTILLO – Grady Hickman, 44, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at his home at Lake Piomingo after an extended illness.
