MANTACHIE – Mike Lesley, 55, died Thursday, May 24, 2012.
A private family service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Senter Funeral Home in Fulton.

Rose Bryant
NEW ALBANY – Wanda Rose Bryant, 86, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at her residence. She was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Tippah County to Oscar and Lottie Murry. She was retired from Irwin B. Schwabe Co. She enjoyed working in her yard and especially with her flowers. She was a member of New Albany Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Funeral Service with Bro. Bill Everett officiating. Burial will be in New Albany City Cemetery. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her sister, Jewel Mitchell of New Albany; her buddy and special nephew, Dennis Mitchell of New Albany; a special family friend and caregiver, David Ray Yancey of New Albany; and her other nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther Bryant; a brother, Manuel Murry; and a sister, Willard Snipes.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

BYHALIA – John Nathan Wilson, 76, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his home in Byhalia.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Barton Cemetery at Barton.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time today at the funeral home.
Nellie Easter
ABERDEEN – Nellie Florence Weaver Easter, 88, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at her home. She was born Sept. 27, 1923, to Amy Gertrude Rooks and William Sylvester Weaver in Birmingham, Ala. She lived in Aberdeen all of her life and attended Aberdeen Public Schools. She married Buford C. Easter on March 22, 1941, in Aberdeen. She has been a member of First Christian Church in Aberdeen since 1940 and also a member of the First Pentecostal Church. She loved her family dearly and they were important to her.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Oddfellows Rest Cemetary. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of over 71 years, Buford C. Easter; three children, Buford Jr. (Frances), Amy White (Ed) and Carol Rieves; six grandchildren, Michael Barry Easter (Deloris), Melissa Easter Recuero (John), Matthew Thomas Gilmore (El’Lane), Marie Gilmore Harrington (Ches), Mark Glen Rieves (Suzanne), Melody Rieves Naramore (Chris); four stepgrandchildren, Tina Crevitt, Connie Fowlkes (Jamie), Eddie White (Penny) and Ken White (Tyrea); 14 great-grandchildren, Courtney and Emily Easter, Justin and Krystin Recuero, Payton and John Thomas Gilmore, Daniel and Nathan Harrington, Savanna and Brandon Naramore, Jackson, Spencer and Annsley Rieves; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Blake Carruth and Jamie Tipton, Shannon Langreck and Maggie Chism, Bob and Courtney White; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Herman “Jit” Eikner; sister, Ethel Foote; and a son-in-law, Herbert Rieves.
Pallbearers will be Michael Easter, Matthew Gilmore, Ches Harrington, Claude Easter Jr., Joe Allen, James Webb, Justin Recuero and Ed White.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Thomas and Payton Gilmore, Daniel and Nathan Harrington, Savanna and Brandon Naramore, Jackson, Spencer and Annsley Rieves, Courtney and Emily Easter and Blake Carruth.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Beverly Calton
BOONEVILLE – Beverly Jean Calton died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at her home after a long illness. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Fisher, she was born and reared in Dyer, Ind. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Dyer. Before retirement she and her husband owned and operated a successful garden center. After retirement they moved to Booneville.
She is survived by her husband of 491/2 years, Bobby Calton; two daughters, Charlene Bobbit of Lowell, Ind., and Kelly Calton of Cedar Lake, Ind.; one son, Robert “Bubba” Calton and Kelly of Lowell, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Joey Bobbit, Heather Bobbit, Benjamin Bobbit, Kayla Calton, Abagail Calton, Sura Calton and Emma Calton; one great-granddaughter, Skylar Star Bobbit, all of Indiana.
At the time of her husband’s death, a joint service will be held in Indiana and their ashes will be scattered together. Waters Funeral Home of Baldwyn is assisting the family.
Essie V Dunnam
RIPLEY – Essie V Rakestraw Dunnam, 96, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. She was born Sept. 9, 1915, to James Syrus and Niecie Hardy Rakestraw. She was the oldest member of West Ripley Baptist Church. She worked at Buena Vista lunchroom. She was co-owner of Ray Dunnam Grocery, worked in several factories, and retired from Griffin’s Grocery Store as a cashier. Her main occupation in life was being a mother. She loved to cook, quilt, crochet, garden and grow flowers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Baker and Bro. Randy Latch officiating. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Garden.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Reaves, Kay Crumpton (Bobby Joe) and Paula Dunnam, all of Ripley; one son, Lanier Dunnam of Lebanon, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Ricky Dunnam (Debby) of Lebanon, Chris Reaves (Teresa) of Ripley, Lisa Jeter (Randy) of Ripley, Rita Rogers of Brentwood, Wanda Carter (Jeff) of Myrtle, Rodney Dunnam of Lebanon, Monica Towner of Blue Springs and Robert Dunnam (Jennifer) of Florence, S.C.; 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; caregiver, Nadine Hurt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Ray Dunnam; her parents; one sister, Ervie D Reed; one brother, Steve Rakestraw; one daughter-in-law, Lyda Dunnam; and one son-in-law, Victor Reaves.
Pallbearers will be Ben Reaves, Rob Jeter, Randy Jeter, Jeff Carter, Ricky Dunnam Jr. and Brett Goodner.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home.

Jimmy Hipp
THAXTON – Jimmy Ray Hipp, 70, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his home. He graduated from Thaxton High School. He was employed at Air Cap Manufacturing for several years. He had a special love for law enforcement and worked for the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s office as a jailer and dispatcher most of his working life. After retirement he was still a marshal for the Toccopola community. He was an active member and deacon of Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church at Lafayette Springs in Lafayette County.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Bro. Steve Weaver and Bro. Tommy Inmon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Thaxton Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include sister, Peggy Hipp McCarter (Terry); niece, Jan McCarter Patterson (Tracy); nephew, Mark A. McCarter (Sandra); great-niece, Anna Patterson; four great-nephews, Matt McCarter (Sarah Beth), Drew McCarter, Aubrey Patterson and Blake Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cleveland L. Hipp; his mother, Lillian Rea Hipp; brother-Baby Boy Hipp; and stepmother, Kathleen Harmon Hipp.
Pallbearers will be Robert Embry, Ken Goodrich, Ross Brown, Jerry Coleman, Bart Ratliff and Billy Berry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Walker and all law enforcement members.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Charles Peoples
AMORY – Charles E. “Pop” Peoples, 78, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Pell City, Ala., on April 9, 1934, to Tommy and Alpha Mae Peoples. He was a retired employee of Elger. He enjoyed attending auctions, gardening and selling produce, fishing and going dancing with his wife, Jewell.
There will be no services. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Thompson Peoples of Amory; his children, Darlene Peoples-Stokes of Atlanta, Ga., Daryl Peoples of Winter Haven, Fla., Debra Peoples-James of Jacksonville, Fla., Joy Peoples-Smith (Donald) of Nettleton, Kenneth Peoples of Nettleton and Dale Peoples of Stiglar, Okla.; his brothers and sisters, Tommy J. Peoples Jr. of Jacksonville, N.C., Dennis Brown of Frostproof, Fla., Nona Faye Burks of Woodville, Ala., Vernie C. Corley of Haines City, Fla., Bobbie Jean Land of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary Jane Hubbard (Jerry) of Etworth, Ga., Robert C. Brown of Auburndale, Fla., and Marie Mahulin (David) of Barto, Fla.; his stepdaughter, Pam Corbell of Amory; his stepson, John Oliver of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandsons, Ray Jennings (Heather) of Ecru and Matthew Smith of Nettleton; numerous great-grandchildren including Andrew Jennings; and a stepgrandson, Brandon Corbell of Amory.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, J.W. Peoples; and a granddaughter, Amanda Jennings.

FALKNER – Samuel Eugene “Gene” Johnson, 71, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis. He was born March 4, 1941, to George and Daisy Barkley Johnson. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and a retired factory worker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenneth Johnson and Bro. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Little Hope Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Faith Gowdy Johnson of Falkner; one daughter, Tina Johnson Sutherland (John) of Falkner; one son, Robert Johnson (Carrie) of Falkner; five grandchildren, Cassidy Street (Sarah), Kellye Lewis, Carin Johnson and Samuel Johnson, all of Falkner, and Holly Sutherland of Australia; one sister, Linda Darone of Tennessee; four brothers, Kenneth Johnson (Donna) of Killen, Ala., Roy Johnson of Falkner, Charles Johnson (Daisy) of Ashland and Jerry Johnson (Brenda) of Falkner; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Johnson of Ripley and Era Mae Johnson of Falkner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hazel Hensley and his twin sister, Sally EmmaJean Johnson; and two brothers, Junior and John Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Johnson, Brett Hensley, Danny Johnson, Steven Johnson, Josh Johnson and Cassidy Street. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlin Johnson, Samuel Johnson and Toby Johnson.

HOUSTON – Dorothy Jean Robinson, 57, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Poplar Spring Church at Eupora. Burial will be in the Poplar Spring Cemetery. Montgomery Mortuary of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pearl Marie King
DENNIS – Pearl Marie King, 85, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Iuka Hospital. A native of Allsboro, Ala., she was an artist and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She had been an employee at Lance Garment in Red Bay, Ala., and Golden Manufacturing. In later years, she enjoyed painting and working in her yard and garden.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Billy Credille officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at Dennis. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are two daughters, Jean LaRue Bower (Jim) of Tuckerton, N.J., and Peggy East of Huntsville, Ala.; two grandsons, Joe R. East III (Kendall) of Harvest, Ala., and Christopher East of Huntsville, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Milton and Pearlie Lucinda King; a sister, Hestel Hamm; and a brother, J.C. King.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont and until service time on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.

HATTIESBURG – Dorrye Wayne Shelby, 74, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his home in Hattiesburg.
