Alcie Petty
CORINTH – Alcie O. Petty, 89, died Oct. 15, 2010, at Cornerstone Health and Rehab.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Corinthian Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Fraley’s Chapel Cemetery. Corinthian Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Rev. Archie Harris
PONTOTOC – Rev. Archie Dean Harris, 67, died Oct. 16, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He served as a minister for the Lord, Jesus Christ for over 40 years. He pastored churches in Mississippi and Alabama.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McGregors Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Pontotoc with the Rev. Johnny Cook and the Rev. Steve Nichols officiating. Burial will be Long Cemetery in Pontotoc County. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Cliff) Cato of Blue Springs; two grandchildren, Rachel and Kipton Cato; and three brothers, L.D. (Elizabeth) Harris of Decatur, Ala., Wayne (Debra) Harris of Garfield, Ga. and Micheal (Patricia) Harris of Decatur, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Harris; and his parents, the Rev. Archie Lee and Rachel Harris.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

CORINTH – Dewayne Myers Bullock, 64, died at his home. He was born Dec. 29, 1945. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy Veteran. He was retired.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Magnolia Funeral Home of Corinth is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his sister, Genell Vanture and husband, Victor; his special friends, Thomas Harris, Travis White and Terry Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Noah J. Bullock; his mother, Edith Myers Bullock; and his brothers, Bill Bishop and Noah Bullock Jr.

BOONEVILLE – Essie Earline Harris, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Booneville Funeral Home.
R.C. Brewer
BURNSVILLE – R.C. Brewer, 78, of Burnsville, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Iuka and a member of the Burnsville Lodge #233 F amp& AM. He retired from Reynolds Metals after 25 years where he worked as a machinist. He was also a farmer and enjoyed his horses and wagons.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen with Bro. William Lambert and Bro. Ken Garner officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Brewer of Burnsville; two sons, Robert Brewer and wife, Debra of Burnsville and Ralph Wayne Brewer of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Becky Freeman and husband, Gary, of Burnsville and Dianne Wright and husband, Frankie of Iuka; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Shadburn of Corinth; five grandchildren, Barney Wright of Jackson, Rodney Wright of Burnsville, Tina Roberts of Tupelo, Cindy Tynan of Olive Branch and Hayley Freeman of Burnsville; four step grandchildren, Curtis Glidewell of Jackson, Jake Glidewell of Starkville, Briley Shadburn of Corinth and Easton Shadburn of Corinth; and three great-grandchildren, Victoria Brigley, Ellie Tynan and Madison Gregory.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bennie Gamble Brewer; and his parents, W.L. and Lula Brewer.
Pallbearers include Jerry Wright, Larry Freeman, Donnie Bobo, Sammy Thorne, Bro. James Emery and E.J. Adams.

Fredrick Copes
WEST POINT – Fredrick Duane Copes, 68, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. He was born in Louisiana on Nov. 12, 1941, to Walter and Mae Prestige Copes. He was an Air Force Veteran and a Shriner. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in West Point, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 997 and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation. He was land manager of CP Winters Foundation, and he was past master of Masonic Lodge # 40.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Chapel with the Rev. Barry Hathcock officiating. Robinson Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jannette Jackson Copes of West Point; daughters, Corrina Lockwood of Sandpoint, Idaho, Lee Ann Elliott of West Point and Betty Collins of Cleveland; brother, Jerry Copes of Louisiana; sisters, Laura Pirtre of Bay Minette, Ala. and Christina Ezell of Pioneer, La.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Charlam Hopper.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Chadwick, Billy Bennet, Don Permenter, Bill Gibson, Billy Buck Staggers, Kermit Byrd, Bobby Bounds, Dean Stewart, Charles Sharp, Dale Lockwood, Tim Collins, O.M. Johnson and members of Harmon Lake Sportsman Association.

Catherine Baker
VERONA – Catherine Quintilia D’Orazio Baker, 89, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at her home in Verona after a brief illness. She was born March 5, 1921, in Crumlynn, Penn. to Luigi and Grace Rossi D’Orazio. She was raised in Crumlynn and met her husband, Quitman Ellis Baker after moving to Washington D.C. She and her husband had lived in the Carolina Community for a number of years before moving to Verona where she had resided the remainder of her life. She was active with the Verona Senior Citizens group and received immense pleasure in taking care of the “Old Folks,” in which most were younger than she was. She remained mentally and physically active working crossword puzzles, reading her Bible, working in the yard and gardening. She was a member of the Verona Christian Church.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Terry Faulkner officiating. Burial will be in Verona Cemetery. W.E. Pegues is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Regina Stanford (Robert) of Verona and Kathy Montague (Ray) of Nettleton; one son, David Baker (Marsha) of Nettleton; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Baker of Tupelo; two sisters, Addie O’Coiadata of Plant City, Fla. and Phil Greto of Crumlynn; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Rollins (Mary Ellen) of Crystal Springs, Gina Kaye Rollins of Tupelo, Michael Rollins of Verona, Mark Rollins (Stacy) of Nashville, Robert Baker (Renae) of Tupelo, John Baker (Dawn) of Mooreville, Christopher Turner (Sandi) of Memphis and Michele Wren (Isreal) of the Wren Community; special neighbors, Beth and Clifton Hodges; special friends, Betty Kelly of Brewer, Naomi Riley of Nettleton and Edith Gaines of Okolona; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quitman Ellis Baker on July 9, 1992; her parents; two sons, Robert Ellis amp”Bobamp” Baker and John Lewis Baker; two sisters, Ann Surynt and Quinn Fusco; and two brothers, George and Lewis D’Orazio.
Pallbearers will be her son, her grandsons and her two sons-in-law.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

IUKA – Adgery R. Crider “Buck,” 60, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

Robbie Tackett
THAXTON – Robbie Estelle Tackett, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at her home in Thaxton. She was a native of Clarksdale and the daughter of J.B. and Josephine Boling. She was a domestic worker and the widow of Grady L. Tackett. She love to watch amp”Days of Our Livesamp” and fish. She was of the Pentacostal faith.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pontotoc Second Baptist Church with Bro. O.D. Hester and Bro. John Mask officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery in Tupelo. Kenneth I. Roberson funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Vivian) Tackett of Thaxton and Monroe Tackett of Saltillo; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Freddie Tackett; and one grandson, Robert Tackett.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. today at the church.
Opal Price
BALDWYN – Opal Price, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness. An Evergreen Community native, she was born Nov. 15, 1923, to William Jim and Gracia Rebecca Shumpert. She worked over 20 years with Charm Step Shoe Manufacturing Company in Fulton. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club in Itawamba County and was always known for helping others and living her life to the fullest. She was a lifelong and faithful member of Evergreen United Methodsit Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Mike Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sisters, Mamie Grace Riley of Mantachie and Flora Nell Williams of Marietta, Ga.; a special sister-in-law, Mary Shumpert of Tupelo; special friends, Janice Watson of Mantachie and Marge Stevens and Cassie Needham, both of Tupelo; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband who preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2001, Glenn Griffin Price; two brothers, Haughton Shumpert and Edwin Shumpert; and one sister, Virginia Dozier.
Pallbearers will be Randy Riley, David Harris, Danny Watson, Richard Twitty, Madison Twitty and Ricky Boyd.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

BARTLETT, Tenn. – Charlotte June Tutor, 82, formerly of Randolph, died Oct. 16, 2010, at Methodist Hospital-North in Bartlett, Tenn. after a short illness. She was born in Randolph to Ivy C. and Alice M. Tutor. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Randolph High School, became a nurse and worked for 58 years in Wichita, Kan.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Burial will be in Noah Tutor Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Martha Douglas of Bartlett, Dillard Tutor of Hendersonville, Tenn., Bobby Anderson of Memphis, Dean Tutor of Memphis, Ivy Joe Bishop of Pontotoc, Dexter Tutor of Germantown, Sandra Tutor, Teresa Tutor, Judy Tutor and Tommy Tutor of California; and a sister-in-law, Mary D. Tutor of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cornez Jordan and Fern Anderson; and three brothers, Fred H. Tutor, Rouble R. Tutor and Ivy C. Tutor Jr.

CORINTH – Betty W. King, 77, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Magnolia Regional Health Center after a short illness. She was a former employee of Dairyland Freeze and a retiree of Itt Telcommunications after twenty years service. She was co-owner and operator of the Corinth Flea Market for ten years and co-owner of Ray King Building Maintenance for thirty-five years. She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at McPeters Chapel with ministers, Lennis Nowell and Malcomb George officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Ray King; two daughters, Sherry Clark of Corinth and Demby (Jim) Stutz of Byhalia; her grandchildren, Amy Clark Burks (Tony), Amanda Clark Redding (Tracy Bullard) and Matthew McArthur; her great-grandchildren, Victoria and Callie Nash and Anna and Anthony Redding; and her great-great-grandson, Wesley Nash.
