Okolona teen dies in Pontotoc County car crash

Charity Smith, 18, of Okolona, has been identified as the person who died in a Friday night crash on U.S. Highway 278 in Pontotoc County.
According to the Mississippi State Highway Patrol, Smith, who was driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre, was attempting to enter U.S. 278 when a west-bound 2010 Ford F-150, driven by Harry Bostick, 55, Oxford, collided with her vehicle.
Smith’s passenger, who was not identified, was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Bostick suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to NMMC, where he was treated and released.
According to the report, neither Smith nor her passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Bostick was wearing a seat belt.
The crash is still under investigation, and charges may be pending.
