STARKVILLE – The Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the stabbing death of a 62-year-old man.

Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt confirmed Marion Hill, Jr., of 2223 Williams Road, died from a single stab wound to the neck Friday morning. Hill was found lying the middle of the road near 633 Williams Road at 10:28 a.m. today. He was transported to OCH-Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Hill’s body was transported at noon to the state crime lab for autopsy.

OCSO Commander Brett Watson said interviews with the man who stabbed Hill — who was still at the scene when deputies arrived — and eyewitnesses indicate self defense.

Watson declined comment on what started the confrontation.

The investigation is ongoing. The case will be presented to an Oktibbeha County grand jury.
