STARKVILLE – The Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority donated a piece of land to Troop G of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The transfer of the deed is the first step in Troop G getting a new building to house their operations.

The donated land is at the corner of Highway 25 and Highway 12 in the Cornerstone Park, a commercial and industrial development subdivision in Starkville.

Troop G spokesperson Chriss Turnipseed said they will now begin contacting lawmakers to express their need for a new facility and hope to be included in the next appropriations budget in July.

“If everything goes as planned, we’re looking at being in the new building in about two years,” he said.

The new facility would move the troop from the east side to the west side of Starkville.
