STARKVILLE – A house fire has claimed the life of an Oktibbeha County woman.
A.K. Rosenhan, county fire services coordinator, said Sunday that Ruth Ann Bishop, age unavailable, died in a fire at a home on Williams Road south of Starkville.
Rosenhan said firefighters received the call at 7:35 p.m. Saturday and arrived to find the frame house engulfed in flames.
Bishop’s son, whom Rosenhan identified as Deon Manning, was also in the house but managed to escape.
The fire was quickly extinguished, Rosenhan said, but the house was destroyed. The coroner and state and local fire officials are investigating.
