Ole Miss offers new Park-and-Ride option to students, employees

OXFORD – The University of Mississippi is offering discounted parking decals for students and employees who choose to park off-campus and ride buses into the heart of campus. Travel on the Oxford-University Transit system is free with an Ole Miss ID.
The $20 decals are valid for the South Lot, which is at the Old Taylor Road interchange with Highway 6 and the old Walmart lot on Jackson Avenue.
Regular-priced decals that allow on-campus parking only in specific zones cost $75.
Buses will run every 10 minutes between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, beginning Aug. 9. They will run every 30 minutes the rest of the day.
“The regular parking decal is $75, so the savings are a huge incentive,” said Linda Christian, director of parking services at Ole Miss. “But the bigger incentive is avoiding the hassle of trying to find a parking spot in the interior of campus.”
South Lot has shelters for transit riders, and the Old Walmart Lot is expected to have them within weeks.
