One injured and one in custody after Lee County shooting

An altercation between neighbors on County Road 683 near Saltillo resulted with one man in jail and his neighbor in the hospital.
Lee County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the county road late Sunday night in relation to a possible gunshot victim. A man was found shot in the shoulder, and he was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center. Investigators were called to the scene and determined a verbal altercation had occurred between two neighbors, and a suspect, Scott C. May, 41, of Saltillo, had pulled a pistol and shot the victim.
May was immediately taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $75,000 on Monday.
The victim is in stable condition.
May had previously been convicted of a third driving under the influence charge.


UPDATE: – Scott C. May has been charged with Aggravated Assault in connection with the incident, according to a Lee County Sheriff Department press release. More will be released later today.


Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson confirmed that one person was in custody Sunday night after a shooting on County Road 683 near Saltillo.
The shooting victim was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center with a small-caliber gunshot wound to the back. The injury did not appear to be life-threatening. No names have been released at this time.
The sheriff said the incident was under investigation and more details would be released on Monday.
