CORINTH – Police are investigating a Tuesday morning accident that killed one person and seriously injured three others.
Annie Dugard, 76, of Baldwyn was killed when the vehicle she was riding in was struck from behind by a log truck driven by Rodney Brassfield, 30, of Bruce. Dugard was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Corinth Police Chief David Lancaster.
Dugard was a back seat passenger in the vehicle driven by Jimmy Duderstadt, 47, of Baldwyn.
Duderstadt, his wife Angela,46, and 18-year-old Angela Pounds, 18, of Booneville were all airlifted to a Memphis hospital. There conditions were unknown Tuesday night.
Lancaster said both vehicles were heading north on Highway 45 when the accident occurred.
He said it appeared Duderstadt was trying to get over in the left lane to turn off on a gravel turnaround when Brassfield hit the vehicle in the rear.
Brassfield was shaken up during the accident but not seriously injured.
The accident is still under investigation.
