STARKVILLE – A three-year-old lawsuit is settled over water in Oktibbeha County.
U.S. District Court records show an agreed order to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Bluefield Water Association Inc. against the city of Starkville.
The dispute was over services provided to 450-500 west Starkville residents in the expanding commercial area near the Highway 25 bypass.
In the settlement, Starkville will acquire Bluefield’s assets and begin serving water customers within the association’s service area.
The Mississippii Public Service Commission already approved the change, the order states.
Only the closing of the transaction and transfer of records and funds remain, both sides say.
Starkville’s Industrial Park is located in Bluefield’s certificated area.
