PONTOTOC – Emergency crews are working to clear a load of garbage off the onramp from Highway 9 to Highway 278 West after an semi-trailer hauling garbage overturned.
Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Roe said the driver of the semi-trailer was going southbound on Highway 9, exiting onto Highway 278 West when the load of garbage he was hauling shifted and the trailer overturned.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Roe said the driver was wearing a seat belt and unharmed.
The single vehicle accident happened around 2 p.m.
The exit ramp is currently blocked and will be for most of the afternoon.
Roe said it would be a good idea to take a different route home from work since cleanup could take multiple hours.
