Oxford to sell bonds for road improvements

OXFORD – Oxford Commons will get a connector road to Highway 30 with part of a $1.5 million bond sale authorized by an intent resolution on Tuesday.

The road will be a long-promised second ingress/egress officials hope will relieve some of the rush-hour traffic bottlenecks at Della Davidson Elementary and Oxford High School.

$500,000 of the funds will pay for the city’s share of the road, which will connect to County Road 2051.

The remainder of the bond issue, which is expected to be sold at the April 15 Board of Aldermen meeting, will fund other improvements at the Commons. The bonds will be repaid by special assessments on property within the development, not by residents.
