OXFORD – Open-top English buses combine with history and myth when Oxford offers guided tours of the city and its sister university on June 11 and July 16, starting at City Hall at 11 a.m. both days.
The 90-minute double-decker bus ride includes historic sites on the University of Mississippi campus and around Oxford, with narrative by historian Jack Lamar Mayfield. Tickets ($5 adults and $2 children) are available at City Hall during business hours or just before boarding at the Skipwith Cottage next to City Hall.
Free North Lamar walking tours guided by Rebecca Jernigan are scheduled for June 18 and July 23 at 10 a.m. The walks include time to tour the L.Q.C. Lamar House and its new professionally designed exhibits. North Lamar walking tours are free and depart from Skipwith Cottage next door to City Hall.
