OXFORD – Oxford Police investigators arrested a suspect Wednesday on a felony charge of failure to stop a motor vehicle when officer signals after she had led police on a chase through heavy football-weekend traffic on Saturday.

OPD Investigator Jeff McCutchen said officers had attempted to arrest Margaret Waters, 48, of 3 County Road 3084, Oxford, in the Walmart parking lot on Saturday after a warrant had been issued against her for contempt of court.

When Waters saw the officers approaching, McCutchen said, she fled the scene in a vehicle and drove recklessly on Jackson Avenue, despite being signaled to stop by sirens and blue lights. To avoid further danger to other motorists, police quickly ended their pursuit. Waters was arrested Wednesday morning at Goodwill after learning she had been seen there.

Bond was set at $5,000.
