OXFORD – Two men face federal charges that they got a third person to buy a firearm for them in Lee County.
Ralphial “Ratchet” Magell Shumpert, 26, and Garrett “Pacman” Birmingham, 28, are accused by a federal grand jury of getting April Rene Lofton to buy a firearm for them and indicate she was the actual purchaser.
Birmingham also is charged as a convicted felon prohibited by law from purchasing or possessing a firearm, plus possessing another firearm in July 2009.
The indictment claims that on March 6, 2009, Lofton met them at a Verona pawn shop and used her credit card to pay $120 for a semi-automatic pistol.
Last December, Lofton, 26, of West Point pleaded guilty to separate charges of illegal firearms possession but has not been sentenced.
